We needed a place to sleep before setting out to complete the Rakiura Great Walk, and were very pleased with this find. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen was well set up, and there was plenty of room to eat and relax. The bathrooms were immaculate. The team were all very friendly and welcoming. Oban is not a large village but the backpackers is very handily situated to all arrival points and other facilities (no hill walking involved).

Having never stayed at a backpackers place before, I was pleasantly surprised with this option (it was the last place in Oban to have vacancies). I had a room to myself, although had to share toilets and showers with the other guests, but these were both clean and more than acceptable. The little room had a comfortable bed and good linen, and caters for the mobile phone generation with two USB points. I didn’t hear any late night noises. I didn’t use the communal kitchen and lounge, but both looked ok and had cooking and refrigeration facilities.

Well appointed backpackers in a central location. Great kitchen facilities if you want to save by cooking ( no oven). While leaving to go find kiwi in nearby Traill Park, found a kiwi poking around on the front lawn - more luck than good planning. Stayed before and after doing a Great Walk so appreciated being able to leave a bag of clothes to change into after a few days of mud.

The staff were incredibly warm and helpful. We had booked during school camp season, thus had to tent but we were given everything we needed to make our stay easy. On our return from the 3day great walk the staff had made sure that the school kids knew to be quiet and give us room to recover. We were offered space to dry out our gear. Even store our stuff after check out time until the boat came on the day we left. I will be making a return in the near future.

Appart from the central location and tidy facilities it got really caring hosts. I was camping there as the weather turned into a worsening, gusty snowstorm. I probably would have turned into an ice block out there, but Owner Sharon upgraded me to stay in her last free room for the night without extra charge. That was on the last night of a 4 day stay and really made my holiday. Ka Pai guys. Matt

Welcomed by lovely staff before our hike. When we finished our 11 day hike, we were welcomed again although we didn't smell fresh. Our boots were dried for us. Very clean and friendly a**osphere. Will highly recommend

Pre-booked this backpacker accommodation which was good as they were full when we arrived. Double bed, clean sheets. Spacious kitchen and guests lounge with lotsa local and other reading available. Plenty of games etc. great for kids activities. Clean showers and toilets. Plenty of hot water.

Helpful staff and friendly a**osphere. Clean and tidy hostel. Central location in Oban. Good value for money. Lounge and cooking area was warm and comfortable with good facilities. Kai fish and chips just over the road and pub and cafe just around the corner
