The location had great views over the valley, including the early morning sea of cloud. The property has a rooftop lookout that our group could get together to enjoy the view. It helped that our taxi could drive through the narrow road of Mengben village and deposit us and our luggage on the doorstep of the homestay. This is unlike Wengji & Nuogang villages, where cars are not allowed to enter the village but deposit visitors at the village carpark. The hospitality of the owner/hostess was remarkable. She had a Pu'er tea table and made us endless cups of different tea all grown in her farm, explaining their differences and virtues. She did not charge us a cent for the whole experience. Neither did she try to hard sell the tea leaves although we did buy a small amount off her because we enjoyed the tea. She is a good cook and whipped up breakfast and lunch for us.

One of my favorite places I have stayed my whole trip! The rooms were safe, clean, and provided towels and slippers. As jt is only women staying here, it felt very safe and comfortable as a solo female traveler. The girls who work here are SO kind and helpful, they took me to see different sights and suggested things I might enjoy seeing. It’s very peaceful here, and I would definitely return if I was staying in Jingmai. Also, this hotel is in a slightly less touristic area which means there is little hustle and bustle from other tourists but is still located close to everything you need.

I would love to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Old Town of Chama. It may be a little tricky to find at first, but just follow Google Maps and you’ll get there easily. From the main gate of the Old Town, it’s only about a 5-minute walk. The hotel itself is quite new and very clean. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom facilities and appliances are all modern and high-quality. The soundproofing is excellent—although you might hear music and dancing outside, once inside the room it’s perfectly quiet. The location strikes a nice balance: slightly away from the hustle and bustle, yet just a few steps from plenty of food stalls and restaurants. What really makes this place special is the owners. They are a warm, welcoming family with parents, an elder sister, and two younger brothers. They don’t speak English, but communication was never a problem—we used Google Translate to chat over cups of delicious tea. If you need anything, you can always ask them. Great place, beautiful constructed, very friendly staff and owner that greatly helped me arrange my trip to Jingmai mountain and were very welcoming. One point of improvement is that I prefer a real towel over disposable towels.

Originally, i booked only 1 night, with the intention of going onwards to Laos the next day. But i stayed a 2nd night because the room was spacious and the view out of the window was so restful. About the room, I like it that there is a desk i could work from. And that the shower and WC areas are divided by a screen. For the 2nd day, my room was refreshed with used toiletries replenished and towels changed. I wish the guesthouse would implement a system where guests are able to indicate if they wish to use the same towels. I am pro-environment, so if i don't change my towels everyday at home, i don't see the need to do so when i am away. I also like the location as it was easy for me to catch Bus Route 3 to a nearby shopping area (i had KFC breakfast there), cross the road to take Bus Route 8 to Meizi Lake Park. I spent about 3 hours there, including enjoying coffee and cake in the cafe near the entrance to the park. (My biggest regard was i did not get to drink even 1 cup of Pu'er tea while in Pu'er :)) After that I back tracked on Bus Route 8 to change to Bus Route 3 to visit the Tea Horse Ancient City. Then after, I took Bus Route 3 to the shopping centre, had dinner and shopped at Walmart, before catching Bus Route 3 back to the guesthouse. There is a walking/running track just across the road from the guesthouse. Forget about going the full length of the track. Once you see a slope on the right side, walk up there. You will get a nice viewpoint and there is a nice cafe there. If the weather is right, you get to see sunrise too! I went in the morning, the cafe was closed, so did not patronise the place. Had I known about this cafe, i would have gone there on the 1st day. Perhaps the guesthouse operator could do up a map with information of easily assessible places of interest. This could result in longer stays for free and easy travellers. Pu'er is a well planned town/city. I like it and will recommend others to spend some time there. Most importantly, do stay at this guesthouse. The surrounding tea plantations will recharge you!

Even though I only stayed for one night, it was a phenomenal experience from start to finish. The family running the hotel were incredibly welcoming, inviting me for Pu’er tea while checking in and while waiting for my Didi upon checkout. They also provided a safe space for me to store my luggage while I explored the nearby area post-check out. The hotel is perfectly located within the Ancient Tea Horse Road area, 1 minute away from the picturesque tea horse archway (the entry point for a beautiful tea plantation tourist area and the site for a daily dance performance at 19:30). The hotel has also teamed up with a local restaurant to provide a free breakfast coupon - it was fantastic local fare (a “make your own” dry noodle bar) and a very welcome start to a hot day. Suffice to say, if you’re looking for a hotel in Pu’er I highly recommend you stay here.
