1885 the Venue - Pub, Restaurant, Rooms & Function House

What an absolute gem! We stayed for a family wedding, it was fantastic from start to finish. It’s a rarity these days to find somewhere so friendly, accomadating and comfortable. All staff were friendly and so willing to help, be it needing an iron to booking a taxi. We ate in the pub the eve before and menu was brilliant, service exceptional, and food quality superb! Absolutely loved our stay, breakfast is amazing! Such a wonderful place with wonderful staff, I have recommended to friends and would without a doubt visit again! Top end hotels could do with learning from small independent venues like this on how to welcome guests! It was fabulous! Thank you from the Fullers xx

Lovely room, the bed was so comfy as well as, the pillows which were lovely and soft. Furthermore, great breakfast in the beautiful open plan kitchen. Chefs were lovely and all staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be staying again in the future.

We recently stayed at 1885 for the second time and in general had a nice stay. The rooms are very nice, spacious with good facilities and the welcome we received on arrival was very friendly. My one criticism with it was the breakfast. We had breakfast on the first morning and we were offered a selection of hot food, with tea, toast and orange juice, with table service. Most of the breakfast was ok with good ingredients. On the second day, which was a Monday. We came down 15 mins before we had said we would have breakfast and the breakfast restaurant was closed and there was no-one around really. We found someone working in the pub who didn't know much about us or breakfast and said she would find out and told us to go back to our room and she would come and tell us. Personally, I would have made us a cup of tea and let us sit in the pub while she found out rather than sending us to our room. She did kindly come up and tell us the chef was on the way about 10 mins later. We came down 15 mins later, which was the time we had stated we wanted breakfast, so partly our issue for coming down too early, but it just kind of felt like we were a bit of a nuisance to them as we seemed to be the only people having breakfast. Unlike the day before, there was cereal on offer that day which we helped ourselves too, rather than just a hot breakfast and we just ordered some toast to have with our cereal. The chef was in the kitchen and we pretty much had to shout our order to him in the open kitchen. He brought the toast over to us and then he carried on doing his food prep for the lunch service presumably, which involved a lot of banging and clattering pans in the open kitchen and then using the food processor to prep some vegetables, which was very loud and one and off for about 15 mins. Not the quiet relaxed breakfast we were hoping for. It is a shame as a nice place to stay.

We had our gender reveal party on the 17 of fed 2024 the venue was absolutely stunning. The food was so lovely and everyone complimented the food and how it tasted. The staff was absolutely amazing went above and beyond well mannered staff all smiles. The view is incredible has a lovely park next to it too. The food was spot on even down the the sausage rolls. The chilli was lovely and wasn’t spicy either even kids enjoyed the time there. All my family in law from Bradford was totally amazed at the venue and they have never heard of it but they was stunned buy the venue staff and the whole out side of venue. Cleanliness was spot on not one bit of dust or dirt. Highly recommend

Me and my family attended the “Breakfast with Santa” here. It was very busy and the staff were warm and friendly and made the experience special for us. I just want a special mention to Sophie who was really lovely, friendly and helpful. The tables were decorated so beautifully as was upstairs it was so cosy. Santa himself was very good and my children was very happy to get a story by him! Well done to the staff at 1885 keep up the good work! We started our Christmas weekend with a bang!. Hopefully we’ll see you again next year

Attended for a family meal and visiting family for a 70th birthday. The food was amazing nice size meal for a good price staff are very polite and helpful we stayed over night the room was very clean had everything we needed and the bed was so comfy breakfast was included and again lovely breakfast we will definitely be visiting again

We stayed here for our 10th anniversary and it was great . The room was big with a lovely ensuite, great views and the breakfast was lovely! The staff were friendly too ready to help with anything we will definitely be back.

Excellent stay, 100% worth mentioning the outstanding breakfast by chef Nathan. Best hotel full English breakfast we’ve ever had, and we’ve stayed in many posh places! Top class ingredients and beautiful attention to detail, served fresh and hot with lovely friendly service.Thanks for a great experience:)

Stayed for one night to attend a wedding at a venue 10 minutes away. The hotel is in a great location, easy to find and quiet. We were luckily upgraded and our room was of a very good size, extremely clean with modern bedroom and private bathroom. Breakfast was included in our stay and everything was made fresh, we were incredibly impressed. Quality of food was great. Staff were all very friendly and were very helpful.
