Stravithie Castle

Overall the experience was positive. The location is beautiful, but we weren't there long enough to learn the bus route in andvout of town. The bachelor suite was adorable but musty as it is in the basement. If you have lung issues I wouldn't recommend. But otherwise a stellar experience.

If you like an old Victorian experience this is a place for you. Instead of a single room, you get a whole Victorian apartment in the castle. Bring your own vine and snacks and enjoy the great view from the sitting room.

If you want to have a Victorian type castle experience, this is the hotel for you. The owner will send you a notice once you’ve booked on line as to the directions to get to the castle. There is no sign at the road, so you have to look for the black gate at the white stone building. This charming castle hotel is loaded with history. The owner greeted us and gave us a mini tour of the living area. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the castle. We booked the room with the king bed. It was actually an apartment complete with a sitting room (tv), kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen does not come with pots and pans, but you could probably arrange with the owner if you were staying longer. Coffee was provided along with a cold breakfast that was in the fridge (boiled eggs, ham, cheese, milk, orange juice). There were also some cereals, fruits and jams. Nicely done if you like a cold breakfast. Coffee as good. Each room came with its own electric heater so we were not cold. The bed was comfy. The shower water took a little while to heat up, but we did manage to take a shower (expect a trickle and not a blast of water). This was just fine as this is an old castle and our expectations were realistic - and we were forewarned by the owner. The internet was just fine and we were able to connect with family and friends in the evening whilst having a glass of wine and some cheese/veggies that we brought along. The grounds are fantastic and filled with wildlife (we saw some deer, badgers, etc). There is a small creek running behind the castle. An awesome experience and I would highly recommend booking for at least one night.

What a beautiful picture perfect property and such a fun treat to stay in a castle on our visit to st Andrews! Our hosts were delightful & welcoming and we enjoyed playing with their dog too! We would definitely stay here again!!

My recent stay at Stravithie Castle was enchanting. This historic castle offers a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern luxury. I highly recommend Stravithie Castle for a delightful Scottish retreat.

The owners were amazing and gave us a wonderful experience with a tour of the rooms. They were so accommodating and made sure we were comfortable. It is so peaceful and quiet at night, and the beds are very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful! We highly recommend it for anyone who wants a quiet, peaceful oasis only a few miles from St. Andrews. 10 out of 10 - we will definitely come back when we visit again!

Very charming. Dave the owner was friendly and helpful when ever we had questions about the area. It is hard to find. Do not trust the GPS, follow the directions given by the owner. The rooms were very large and clean, comfortable. We had a bedroom, kitchen, and a bathroom. The owner filled the fridge with breakfast food, which was a nice touch. St. Andrews is only 10 minutes away. The dog Gyp, loves to fetch. Bring her a tennis ball if you stay. We highly recommend!!
