We stayed here 3 nights. it is an oasis of calm and beauty in what could be a chaotic town. The owner, Yves, speaks English, but he is French. he is what makes the place so good. there are only 4 rooms, and breakfast is taken on a great long table in the courtyard. excellent fresh baguette croissants, fruit juices, a big cheese platter, yogurt... at 19.00 Yves invités the guests to a pre dinner apéro. this is very nice, though optional of couse. you can stay for 1/2 hour and get tips of what to do with your time in Saint Louis. everything here is walkable. there are horse carriage tours that take you to every part of the island and to the fishing village next to it. an eye opening and recommended experience. also there are shops and galleries. The Jamm Maison d'hôtes or guesthouse is truly that. guests feel welcome. the building dates to about 1850 and has been lovingly restored by the owner and decorated with African art throughout. Could not recommend it more warmly.
