Our first stay in Richmond and whilst the King's Head had it's faults we liked it and would return. The hotel could not be better located on the market place in the centre of Richmond, and building itself is a splendid mix of traditional with a more contemporary bar and restaurant area. Our room was a standard double which was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Any failings could be put down to the historic nature of the building, and therefore forgiven. Service for breakfast was on the tardy side of relaxed, but when it arrived the food was very nice, this was also the case for dinner but here one of our main courses left a little to be be desired on the taste front.

Decided to stay here to break the journey south and charge the Tesla, we stayed here over 20 years ago before Holiday Inn took over and what a transformation. We had a great welcome from the reception staff who informed us we were guests of the day and we received vouchers for a free drink and a chocolate bar each. We had a king bed executive room on the 2nd floor at the rear of the hotel that had all the facilities you would expect, there is lift access to all rooms. It was generally quiet room although we did hear a couple of police cars sirens as they passed the hotel There is free parking but make sure you register your vehicle to avoid a fine We had a burger/chips and a carbonara in the bar area its the same menu as the restaurant and with hindsight we might have eaten in the restaurant to avoid the noisy families in the bar area. Food was very good and we will defiantly stay here again if we are in the area and the Tesla chargers were a bonus
