My wife and I were looking for a quiet place in the Hudson Valley where we could get away for our 23rd anniversary. Based on their website and reviews, the Bavarian Manor seemed like the right choice. We paid over $300 and drove three + hours from Vermont. The problems started at dinner. A gentleman arrived who had made a reservation based on a specific dish listed on the website as the Friday special. When the waitress told him that wasn't the special this evening, he questioned why it was still on the website. Although she was nothing but polite and professional with us, she was dismissive of this gentleman's complaint, and the chef who came out to talk to him was outright rude- "You can go eat someplace else"- even though the gentleman's complaint was valid and could have been answered with a simple apology, comped meal, etc. This went on for several minutes, interrupting an otherwise quiet dinner. We retired to our room, looking forward to warming up by the fireplace mentioned in the description online. When the fireplace didn't work initially, we followed the directions posted in the room and went down to the front desk. There was no one there, and the bartender my wife spoke to very brusquely informed us that there was not going to be anyone there to help us- no owner, manager, or employees on site other than the restaurant staff. This became a bigger issue between 11 and 2AM when a large party of what we assumed to be drunken guests began loudly celebrating, going up and down the stairs and around the halls at top volume. Based on their conversations they were grabbing drinks from the unattended bar, though we didn't go out in the hallway to check. We woke up from what little sleep we could get to take showers and grab breakfast, only to find that there was no shampoo in the bathroom- a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but it meant that on top of not sleeping we also couldn't take showers. When we spoke to the very nice woman who was in charge of the buffet breakfast, she said there were still no hotel employees on site but that she would leave our information and the owner would contact us later that morning. Twenty-four hours have passed and we still have not heard from anyone.
