I am filling this review out as the person who booked and paid for the room on behalf of my guest / driver, who stayed here for eight days. The room was conveniently located on the ground floor, and despite being adjacent to the main lobby, it was reasonably quiet. A set menu breakfast with nine small dishes was provided every morning in the restaurant, and was very healthy and beautifully presented. Cleaning was done every morning by aunties who knocked around 10a.m. to check if cleaning was requested. Parking onsite for free and EV charging was also available very conveniently next to the hotel. Although the hotel room was non-smoking, the driver smoked both inside the room and in the public lobby, but was not ticked off or asked to smoke outside (!). Staff were very courteous and friendly, always helping with any issue and happy to answer any questions. On departing, both the driver and myself received local biscuits as a gift. Really wonderful place to stay with an extremely well trained, polite family of hospitality experts.

My family and I (5 of us) recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming homestay in Hongcun for two days and one night, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The building, steeped in history at 400 years old, is located relatively close to the West entrance, making access a breeze. The rooms were beautifully decorated, clean, and well-kept. Although I initially booked three specific rooms, they were unavailable due to renovation. However, I was provided with three other rooms that turned out to be more spacious, which was a delightful surprise. The lobby felt incredibly welcoming, with a cozy living-room-style atmosphere. There’s a lovely café to the left and a souvenir shop to the right, adding a nice touch of convenience and charm as you walk toward the living area. Wan Jie (elder sister Wan), the host, was truly hospitable and attentive. Her warmth shone through from our first phone call, which she answered cheerfully while helping arrange our pickup, as cars aren’t allowed into Hongcun, a UNESCO Heritage Site. One of the highlights of this homestay was the restaurant nestled in a ”secret” garden—a serene and picturesque spot where my family and I could have happily spent more time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, adding to the overall experience. Though it was too cool to use during my visit, the homestay also features a pool that would be perfect for summer days. At the end of our stay, Wan Jie went above and beyond by accompanying us to the village exit to wait for our driver, ensuring everything went smoothly before saying her goodbyes. It’s rare to experience such personalized hospitality, and it made a memorable impression on us. Based on my positive experience, I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone visiting Hongcun. It’s a unique blend of history, comfort, and genuine hospitality that truly enhances the visit.

A great place to stay in Hongcun village as it is very near all the famous tourists sites. As it was very cold when we visited, Mr Xiao Wang was so kind to bring breakfast to us in our room and we enjoyed it in warm comfort. Place is very clean with modern amenities in room.

Para quienes deseen experimentar a fondo el tranquilo estilo de vida de Huizhou, en la antigua ciudad de Hongcun, ¡esta casa de huéspedes es una excelente opción! Dos amplios patios, uno interior y otro exterior, están repletos de flores y plantas, meticulosamente cuidadas, en un entorno pintoresco, con el canto de los pájaros y el aroma de las flores. La mesa de té de tatami al aire libre evoca la sensación de un lugar tranquilo y fresco. La zona común es increíblemente espaciosa; uno podría quedarse cómodamente dentro todo el día. La terraza del segundo piso es perfecta para relajarse y tomar el sol, mientras que el mirador del tercer piso ofrece vistas panorámicas de Hongcun. Las habitaciones y las zonas comunes están decoradas con el esmero del propietario: limpias, elegantes y con buen gusto. El propietario es una persona cálida y compasiva que ha abierto una casa de huéspedes cálida y acogedora. Elegante hotel pequeño ubicado en una tranquila callejuela de Hongcun Village. Las habitaciones de la planta baja, bien equipadas, dan a un patio compartido y cuentan con cortinas para mayor privacidad. Cama, aire acondicionado y ducha de primera calidad. Ofrece todos los artículos de aseo y comodidades que la mayoría de los huéspedes necesitan. Personal amable y atento. Si no habla mandarín, asegúrese de tener WeChat para comunicarse. Me encantó.

The property is located in the heart of Hongcun, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the historic village on foot. As guests, you’re also entitled to discounted entrance tickets: just let the ticket office know you're staying here and they'll give you 50% off tickets. Room was exactly as in the photos, spacious, perfectly clean and featured a very comfortable bed and many accessories (bottled water, tv, haircomb, hairdrier, etc). The building’s traditional Chinese architecture was absolutely beautiful and on a rainy day, it created a wonderfully romantic atmosphere we will treasure forever in our memories. The staff were exceptionally helpful. They kindly met us to guide us to the hotel (since Apple Maps and AMaps can be a bit confusing in the area), provided umbrellas free of charge and even bring us back to the parking lot when we left. We had an excellent stay and highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Hongcun!

Wonderful stay in a truly unique property. Zhang Mansion is much more than just a hotel: it is an authentic experience inside an ancient traditional mansion, perfectly immersed in the historic atmosphere of Hongcun. It almost feels like being transported back in time, into the quiet and refined beauty of China from several centuries ago. The interiors are full of charm, history, and character, and staying here allows you to experience the village in a much deeper way than a simple day visit. The atmosphere is calm, evocative, and almost cinematic. A very sweet detail: the property’s cat and dog are genuinely lovely and add an even warmer, more memorable touch to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic, romantic, and timeless stay.

Tres madres y tres papas, vivir en dos habitaciones. La ubicación del pueblo es muy buena, muy fácil de llegar a los árboles de la aldea, muy conservador. No es la calle adecuada, la noche está muy tranquila. El paseo a la calle principal también está cerca, muy conveniente.
