Room was clean and has a freshly cleaned smell. Always a good sign when hotels are clean. Reception staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She upgraded our room. The downside of the room is that some plug sockets didn’t work. There’s only a total of 3 sockets in the room. Location of the hotel is excellent. Very near the subway station and walking distance to Nanchan Street area where there’s a lot of shops. If you’re staying here, remember to come out and see the Nanchan Temple at night. The lights make the temple look magical. Best timing to see it in the evening.

Xiao Liu, the inn owner, is extremely polite, helpful, friendly, and reliable. The place is very comfortable, reasonably priced, and in a great location. All the staff were genuinely warm and welcoming. We loved the place so much and truly regretted staying for only one night. From the moment we arrived, we didn’t feel like strangers at all—it felt like being with family. Everyone treated us with sincerity and went out of their way to help. Xiao Liu patiently answered all our questions and even drove us to buy fireworks. He waited for us and later joined us to play the fireworks at night, even though we had already checked out. He kindly allowed us to leave our large luggage with him during the day, which we really appreciated. The place is exactly as shown in the photos—no overly edited pictures with disappointing reality. Everything was authentic and exceeded our expectations. We also enjoyed a hotpot dinner at the inn, and it was fresh and delicious. The food is truly a must-try, including their coffee. Everything was excellent, with no doubts about quality. I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to visit Wuxi again. I will definitely recommend this place to friends and family, as well as 德福楼, the restaurant recommended by Xiao Liu. The food there is authentic, delicious, and truly represents Wuxi cuisine. They also helped us with tickets to the Lingshan Big Buddha. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for more—the restaurant owner assisted us with the entrance tickets, and a tour guide even drove us to Lingshan Big Buddha and guided us there, all without any extra charges. Everyone was incredibly kind and generous. If you plan to buy joss sticks and candles, there’s a shop right beside the restaurant with very reasonable prices—absolutely no regrets. I expected so much more from a place calling itself the GRAND Hotel. This was not even average (at best). Check in was not very friendly. The room had many issues, for example half of the lights did not work, so the room was very dark the entire time I was there. The Wifi was really spotty and was difficult to sign into. The bed was okay, had a so so sleep. To be honest I have stayed in far better places in Wuxi for a way cheaper price, but I was tired and did not want to complain or change rooms/hotels. I will say that I was very disappointed for the price. I only chose this place because of the tub and pool. The tub was ok and to be honest after seeing the state of the room I did not even bother with the pool. I figured if the room was not that great then they probably don't clean the pool well. They had ads for in room massage but it was not available that day (then why advertise all over). The Air Con was a joke, it did not cool well at all. The TV was ancient and I had to mess with the batteries to even turn it on. Check out was not that polite either. A couple positives, the bellboy helped me leave with my bags, and I can say that the girls at the morning breakfast were very polite and kind...but this is not their fault, the food was pretty horrendous. At least the coffee was decent and plentiful. Overall the rest of the staff made me feel like I was a big inconvenience while being there. My advice is to check reviews and get a WAY better hotel for elsewhere for far less money. I will not be back to this old, shoddy, dodgy hotel.
