Mabula Game Lodge

Absolutely wonderful holiday experience on safari at Mabula. It felt a real privilege to see the animals in their natural surroundings and I was very impressed at how respectful Mabula was towards them, making sure we did not encroach on their space. How our ranger Mashudu spotted some of them, particularly the cheetahs, was amazing as the animals are so well camouflaged in their habitat. We saw all the animals we had on our tick list, apart from the elusive leopard. Our lodge was luxurious - the bathroom was bigger than I have ever had - and the bed was enormous. Good air con too. The only slight disappointment was that there was nowhere to sit outside but that is luck of the draw I suppose as one of the 3 couples in our party had an outside terrace. Otherwise it was quite dark inside the lodge (we had to keep the curtain pulled across the doorway as people could walk right infront of it). The restaurant and food was excellent with enough variety to cater for all choices. We enjoyed our meals there and it’s a shame that we had three evening meals out in the bush, including our last night. (It was too dark to see what you were eating and the food was cold, though the atmosphere with the dancers was great). I heard quite a few people say the same. I had an excellent massage at the spa. We also did the quad biking and horse riding. Booked through Newmarket Holidays.

Everything from the happy staff, to the amazing room, to the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were all AMAZING! Our safari guide, KG, did an amazing job of getting us to where the animals were! My massage by Danari was just perfect! I can't recommend this place enough. We were so sad to leave!

Fantastic stay and awesome wildlife and nature here along with good food and great staff. Loved the safaris and the relaxed atmosphere.

Our Visit to Mabula game lodge was amazing, couldn't fault it. The trips out every morning and evening were brilliant, with our guide Mash and her colleague Louis.She had a sixth sense knowing where the animals were. We saw all the animals apart from the Leppard and the nocturnal ones. Staff very friendly and the food we had a good selection. One point to note was the pool was bloody cold .

The people and place are so nice and friendly. The food are superior and the wild drive was so nice. They do there best to show us every thing. The big 5. A must in South Africa. The room is very clean and spacious. Our high- tea was out of this world. A place to be and people that will spoil u.

Everything about Mabula was perfect. The housekeeping service was amazing - they came in three times a day - in the evening just to put the lights on and drop the blind!! The lodge was fabulous - everything you could want - comfy beds and pillows - water and tea/coffee replenished daily - power shower and fluffy towels. The food was amazing - never had a bad meal. The drinks were brand names and not local as described in the brochure. The only negative was that we were very tired - up early and out for 6.30 for first game drive and again 3.30 til 6.00 in the afternoon. The rangers were brilliant making sure we saw plenty of animals every day - we had a total of eight drives during the seven days. I wouldn't hesitate to go to Mabula again.

Kingfisher Villa is an absolute must stay if you are visiting Mabula. The most amazing team of individuals that made our stay so memorable! I would highly recommend and cannot wait to return.

Probably the best game lodge I've ever stayed at. The setting is private, peaceful and very safe; my suite was incredible, the food varied and very delicious, the staff helpful and kind - and the game drives were outstanding. Being quite a small reserve, there's not a huge amount of game, but the rangers always ensured that guests saw everything. I had the most wonderful time!

The overall experience was fantastic. The staff members were very accommodating. The medic staff member was lackadaisical however.
