I've never left a bad review, and of course not a 1 star review to a hotel where I stayed.
All of my other reviews are 5 stars and I always appreciate the places I'm staying, like I expect them to appreciate my stay.
But here something different happened in my honeymoon, and it something I was really not expected from a place that I've paid so much per night to and chose for the special time of both me and my wife.
It ended up that my wife is crying in her honeymoon.
In the beginning when we arrived, they were very nice, we felt we are really happy for choosing this place. They even let us check in earlier which I was really appreciated.
In the second day, we went to the pool and when we returned back to the room we saw that our key is lost.
My wife was very stressed because she's usually the one who put the key in her bag and she felt a little ashamed, but she said she's thinking probably the key is on the table inside the room (the room is automatically locked).
We asked from housekeeping to open our room for us, which were nice and opened for us, but unfortunately the key wasn't on the table which means we lost it.
We were searching everywhere in the room and in our bags, because even it's not something that need to cost so much, I prefer not losing a key I was responsible for. And especially I didn't want my wife to feel bad for losing the key because it's really something that can happen to everyone.
Unfortunately, We didn't find it. We went to the reception and asked for their help with a new key.
I expected there's a chance they will ask for money, because sometimes this is the policy. Even usually this is the case in more cheap hotels (like hostels) that anyway you are not paying a lot for your stay, but if something like this happens you will pay a lot for it. Here we paid a lot per night, and it supposed to be a high class resort with a good service.
They asked for 1,500THB. Yes, you read correctly. 1,500THB is a salary of one week in Thailand!
I didn't know where does it come from, because they were so nice and fare before it happend and I was never expecting them to do this.
It's like they are using the situation that you don't have any choice because you can't really enter into your room. And you need to pay 1,500THB for a new key!
Especially in this time of after COVID, I didn't expect them to take advantage of tourists like that.
We paid, because of course we didn't really have any other choice. My wife felt so bad because she was the one with the key and felt like it's her fault. With this money we could do so much here.
Probably it's written somewhere in their policy, which they know most of the people read and sign sometimes without focus. Anyway it shouldn't be there! If they want they can charge for something like 200-300THB maximum (which is 10 times more then what duplicate a key cost, but this is somehow makes sense).
If we did something in purpose, like smoking in restricted areas, I can really understand the overpriced fine. But something that can really happen to anyone, and you anyway feel bad when it happened to you. This is really not fair.
When we checked out, they didn't ask how was our stay, and they checked our room before "releasing" us while our taxi is waiting. Never happened to us. So strict policy that makes you feel uncomfortable!
So much bad taste from this stay, and for what...
