Turtle Rocks Oceanfront Inn

We could not have been happier with our stay at Turtle Rocks. The views are indescribable and moving, the rooms immaculate, the beds ultra comfortable, the breakfast so delicious and the owners were incredibly kind and interesting. Turtle Rocks is a very special place with special people.

We spent 3 fabulous nights here. It's cozy, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the baked goods and hot breakfast every morning. The owners are super friendly and helpful. You will not regret one minute spent in this lovely B & B. So close to Redwoods National and State Parks, a wonderful Humboldt Botanical gardens and Sequoia Park Zoo with a skywalk built up in the redwoods. There is also a great little beach in Trinidad. Make a reservation at Larrupin restaurant just down the road.

There's so much to love about this charming place. The view from the huge windows is magnificent, and there's a balcony with adirondack chairs. The room was very spacious. There was a sofa and chair, a dresser, some occasional tables - and the room still didn't feel crowded. The bathroom had a large tub, and there was a separate dressing room with washbasin. The breakfast was excellent. The hosts make and serve eggs (quiche or frittata), chicken sausage and toast; there's individual fruit cups and yogurt (on ice) to help yourself to. And coffee, both regular and decaf, and various teas. The fridge has soft drinks and water bottles. There's fruit and cookies available all the time. Breakfast is served in a comfortable living room with views of the garden and the sea - and a deck where scattered birdseed attracts juncos, song sparrows, white-crowned sparrows, and spotted towhees. The hosts are chatty and friendly. The foyer has lots of literature about things to see and good restaurants nearby. Also a bowl of candy, replenished every day. The only con was that the furniture was somewhat run down. The sofa set was very worn, as was some of the carpet. The bed was on the soft side, which is fine if that's what you prefer. While we were there, the weather was very wet - but it was still a lovely experience.

Owners were personable and helpful with hiking suggestions. Loved the views and the room! Breakfast was great and the homemade baked goods were a delight! Liked that it felt like a cross between a bed and breakfast and a hotel. The owners offered help but were not overbearing in trying to engage.

Turtle Rocks Inn gets all of the important stuff right: the ocean views from every room in the Inn are spectacular, the rooms are comfortable, and the hosts are present but unobtrusive. The king beds are incredibly comfortable, and you will love falling asleep to the sounds of barking sea lions, which lounge on the rocks a short distance from shore. The morning coffee is strong and high quality, the breakfast offerings are superb--cooked by the owner--and the up-to-date LG tv and wifi make it easy to while away your time with a partner after dark, when you aren't doing other things! Turtle Rocks is a short distance from Trinidad proper, and a slightly longer drive to some of the best hiking on the coast. Skip the pricey restaurants in the area; they aren't as good as they claim to be. Instead, dine at local haunts and focus on hiking. St. Patrick's Point State Park is right there, and hiking among redwoods is just a few miles north. If you can handle moderately challenging hike as well as a somewhat treacherous drive, Fern Canyon is a must see. Really, I can't say enough about this place. It's expensive but completely worth it.

What a beautiful experience! We truly loved the ocean views. The spacious rooms and balcony allowed us plenty of room to relax. The friendly and helpful inn keepers offered great advice on what to see in the area and offered great recommendations for good restaurants. We enjoyed the yummy breakfasts and appreciated the availability of snacks and drinks throughout the day. We stayed 4 nights and hope to return in the future.

Amazing view from anywhere in the room! The bed is comfortable and the couch provides a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view. Two chairs provide tv viewing although we never turned it on! The hosts are very attentive and friendly. Breakfast and afternoon desserts are a homemade delights. Centrally located in the Lost Coast so much to do and see. We were here for our anniversary and the inn provided a romantic place to celebrate.

Stayed two nights so we were able to finish our hiking through Redwood national Forest. Good location. Roger the host was very informative. He has put a lot of hard work into his home for the past 35 years. The view is gorgeous. You can hear the sea lions at night actually all day. Breakfast was good. We basically had the same breakfast two mornings in a row, which was an egg frittata with chicken sausage, and toast. Lots of homemade bakery items which were good, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee or tea were also offered, fruit juices in the refrigerator with sodas and water. The rooms are outdated, but they are comfortable. Could use a little freshening up and updating and maybe a little more spring cleaning.

Location is just the beginning of this 5-star stay!!! Beautiful home, beautiful rooms with amazing view, birds, sea lions, delicious breakfasts!!! Suggested itineraries soo helpful. Highly recommend!!!
