We stayed on a powered site which was a good size (pet friendly) and they have a few amenities blocks available throughout the park with key pad access including laundry and camp kitchen (observation fridge, toaster, microwave didn’t use the kitchen) all well maintained. Park has the river one side and beach on the other. River on high tide is filled with fish and low tide there were soldier crabs. High tide good for kayaking and paddle boarding. Also has a play ground which also had a basketball hoop. Staff we did see were all very friendly and approachable. Their reception is well equipped with the basics to purchase but there’s also a general store up the road (less than a 10 minute walk there) Also the national park is a short walk way (no pet’s aloud) The camp ground was busy with traveler’s but you wouldn’t have noticed it was so quiet and everyone so friendly, we had a great stay and great wait to return.

We had a powered caravan site. Site was very room and easy to park van. Access to the river and beach is only a short stroll away and both are just gorgeous. There is limited phone reception, enough to make a phone call. We were there to enjoy our surroundings and not scroll our phones.. It’s disappointing hearing the older campers (neighbouring caravans) complain about families camping and noisy children laughing. I think it’s a beautiful noise to see and hear people living life..I’d sooner hear laughter then their whinging. 😊 This has definitely become one of our favourite places. Thank you 🙏🏼

Hit the jackpot with the weather, honestly, I’m still getting over how good this weekend was. Stayed on an unpowered site (269) right near the creek but any of the unpowered sites near the footbridge look good. We must have got in that crystal clear water at least 20x in the course of 2 days. Kids had a blast riding around the campground, and thank you to the staff member who pulled them up for not wearing a helmet, it really does take a village. We snorkelled along the far side of the creek and saw schools of fish and a flathead so big I actually thought it was a leopard shark at first, absolute monster of a thing. The walk around the headland would be incredible any day of the week but with the perfect weather, the kangaroos grazing, and the mass butterfly event, it was all just too much. Highly recommend taking all the toys… kayaks, bikes, surf/boogie boards, snorkels, fishing rods, footy… you’ll use them all. Stock up on your food and drinks, Cole’s SW rocks/or the mini-mart are a 20-25 minute drive away and reception stocks very little at a much higher price. No bread on Sunday’s but milk/ice/bait etc. are there if needed. Only downside is the sites are a tad too close together for my liking (but they’re still bigger than some I’ve seen, hello Broken Head HP), but it’s expected at a place like this, especially in peak season. Dogs welcome, showers are better than I have at home, no fires allowed from sept-April (don’t quote me on that but I’m close). Take a floor mat, some sites aren’t as grassy as others. All in all, a perfect trip. Grab some mates and book in immediately.

Stayed in one of the cabins for a week, and it was truly one of the best places I've stayed in Australia! Ignore the negative review left by the whinging ar*ehole.. he seems to love leaving negative reviews for everywhere he stays (maybe just stay at home mate!). I can't say enough positive things about this park, location and staff. The cabin is modern with everything you need for a long stay. Aircon/heater, roomy kitchen with great appliances, pots, pans, etc and great gas stove/oven. Very hot showers in the ensuite (great for the cold nights there). Comfy bed with plenty of blankets and great pillows. Lovely verandah for relaxing. Couch inside looked brand new. 10/10 cabin! And cleaned to absolute perfection. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming and enjoyed a good chat. Well stocked kiosk at reception and a good book & dvd selection. You can hire a raised fireplace and buy wood at reception too - a nice touch for the cold nights. Location is absolutely amazing. The park is only a 10 second walk to the beach and river, and is right at the doorstep to Hat Head National Park where there are great walks and heaps of whales to be seen from the headlands. The fishing is plentiful. Dolphins coming up the river. Bowling Club right next door for chinese & aussie meals. General store just down the road for tasty burgers. South West Rocks is only a 20-30 minute drive away - well worthwhile for a day trip. Do yourself a favour and head to Hat Head Holiday Park for a nice relaxing stay, and some great fishing, swimming, snorkelling and hikes. Will be back again for sure! Thank you Craig, Kim & to your amazing staff.

Hat Head Holiday Park is a sleepy little location locked away, so don’t tell anyone! A nice spot to get away and just veg out, with a short walk to the pristine creek which feeds into the ocean at the beach. With the local Bowling Club only a short stroll away, my main criticism of the Park is the lack of another Camp Kitchen more centrally located.

Stayed at Hat Head Holiday Park for 3 nights in May on the unpowered sites! What a wonderful experience beautiful bush setting with the beach at your doorstep ! We were able to fish and take lovely walks without barely leaving our camp site! The amenities which were very close were immaculate with lovely hot showers ! The staff were friendly and courteous the park as a whole is very well run we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Hat Head Holiday Park is just a campsite with two cabins, a shop and some shower blocks. There are not even lights after dark to light your way around, and no leisure facilities whatsoever. The small, poorly-stocked, relatively expensive shop doubles as the reception, it closes around dinner time. There is no swimming pool and no safe sea or river swimming nearby (red sediment, rumours of bull sharks, and relentless waves). The nearby town of Hat Head had nothing at all to offer. Not even a coffee shop. We stayed several nights in May 2022. We booked Cabin 10 as it has two bedrooms. We had no choice but to give the double-bed to our elderly father. This left only a children’s metal-framed bunk bed for us two adult males. Cabin 10 has one bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. The bathroom space is adequate and the water pressure ok. It had heating lamps for the cooler evenings. When I stepped out of the shower, I could feel the warmth on me, which was nice. In the top bunk, however, I had nowhere to put my phone, water, lip balm, and other things I need in the night. There was no bedside lamp anywhere to read by, nor a bedside table to put one on. I could not sleep on the bunk bed at all. I could not even fit in the bed! My skin on the bare metal at night was unbearable. The single air conditioning unit is installed in the kitchen. It worked well, but we could not benefit in the bedroom with doors closed for privacy. I was VERY disappointed to find that the fresh linen was not placed upon the beds. It was pure laziness by the staff. They simply could not be bothered to fit the sheets on to the bunk bed. This may be because it was SO difficult to put them on the bunk bed. It’s very poorly designed. I have several bruises to show for my attempts to fit the sheets. The bunk bed is simply NOT fit accommodation for an adult. The bottom bunk is plainly uncomfortable with creaky metal girders all around it. Climbing down from the top bunk to access the toilet several times a night was painful for me. The room may perhaps be acceptable for two children. It was cruel of the holiday park to allow 3 adult males to book this poor-quality accommodation, plainly intended for a couple with children, without a warning. The kitchen had very good amenities. There was a choice of teas (excellent quality), small milk carton, some sugar sachets. There was a microwave and decent sized fridge-freezer. All good and very clean. The two couches, however, were stained and smelly. When I sat on them the dust made me sneeze. I avoided them after that. They were clearly well-used by numerous persons unknown. The cabin location within the park is, to some extent, ideal. Near the river and beach. I would hate to be here in a flood situation though. However, we were surrounded by kangaroos and interesting bird life day and night. However, there is little to do, no entertainment whatsoever, and I was completely bored most of the time, as a non-drinker by choice.
