This hotel is an absolute gem and a true haven of peace. Unfortunately, I was only able to stay for one day, but it is the kind of place where you immediately feel at home. Everything about it was wonderful. One small tip for travellers coming from Europe: remember to bring a plug adapter.

Location: it's walking distance to the entrance of Confucius Temple, it's a plus point. And it's at big intersections, so access-wise, the location is good. Cleanliness: great but could be improved as i still found the carpet and floor dusty Service: all receptionists were so helpful and friendly. they tried their best to communicate with non Mandarin speakers. Also, my deepest gratitude to MiaoMiao for her service. She even accompanied me to the restaurant next door to help me ordering some food. Such hospitality really moved me :”) Food: breakfast was great. didn't expect it to be varied but it was. from congee to salad, bread to rice, they got options. Tasted pretty good as well. I chose this hotel for its amazing architecture and also because the interior design is by a Singaporean firm (yes, Singaporean pride! And yes, I’m the guest from Singapore). Qufu is a small town and the hometown of Confucius, and everyone has an endearing way of addressing each other as Teacher or Laoshi here, as 子曰：三人行必有我师 ie we can learn something from everyone. I dare say the JW Marriott is one of the best options in international hotels here aside from the Shang, but Marriott is more conveniently located to the Confucius Temple site and main tourist attractions. I love the 孔门豆腐 here; I had it twice during my short stay. There is a nice story behind the dish; let the server tell you about it. The one who served me was lovely. I asked her if I could record her introducing the dish; she was a little shy and said her Putonghua is not standard (yes, the local people talk with a thick Qufu accent, so if you are out of town, ask them to repeat to you slowly in Putonghua or use a translator), but she allowed me to record anyway. Summary Great location BUT loud music at 745/8am daily for 30mins , plus cigarette stench in rooms Location Excellent, right Infront of Kong Temple (it's huge), HOWEVER be warned of the loud music coming from the temple and cigarette smell (read below). Kong Mansion is about 5mins walk from the Temple's right , and then the cemetery is located behind the There is a performance at the front of the temple gates at 8am every morning - the music is so loud it will wake you up from 745am 😂 10mins walk to their pedestrian street , you will find Luckin Coffee, Hey Tea etc and I highly reccomend MOBEN Thai restaurant located about 5mins walk (north) from Hey Tea . Rooms We walked into a room which stunk of cigarette smell. Suspect it was either coming through the shared air vents or the linen/towels , as if they were dried at a location where others smoke nearby. It's a pity because it's a really nice hotel. We had someone trying to enter the lift with a lighted cigarette in his mouth , and I had to push him out . That's crazy . Breakfast Simple and nice local spread. Gym Only 1 threadmill and 1 spinning bike , shared in the same room as the guests washing machine & dryer. Staff Very helpful and polite staff but they don't speak English.
