The Kings Head Hotel

This hotel is super centrally located with a bar and restaurant too. The rooms are clean, comfortable, quiet, and spacious. They provide shampoo AND conditioner, which is a bonus these days, and they were nice, high-quality products too. The breakfast is delicious and everyone on staff who we interacted with was kind and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

The location of the hotel was great and right on the historic High Street. It is very old which gives much of it's Charm, but the room could have used a little more upkeep. A small shelf fell down and the only window to cool the room require a chair and much effort to open and close it. HOWEVER - the food was good and service was friendly and always accommodating.

Booked this for the Saturday night, and was told at check in that they would be playing music in the evening….Nothing I could do about it as I was only informed at check in, there was the impression that it was a disclaimer to avoid complaints. The warning was an underestimation at best. Two floors up, and with all windows shut - on a warm day (a feat that took some climbing into the windowsill to shut one of them) the music was LOUD, and carried on well past 11pm. Led to a very disrupted sleep before an early start the next day, and I was lucky to be on the top floor, if you were to stay a floor below the sound would rattle the fillings out of your teeth. The place needs to decide what it is, either a club or a hotel, because it can’t be both. Utterly farcical. Breakfast was good the next day, and wait staff were excellent at breakfast, room was neat and tidy. A heads up to those unsteady on their feet, it’s an old building so some floors are uneven, but that added to the hotel’s uniqueness.

We had a lovely lunch outside seating area, delicious calves liver and bang for the buck beers and lovely staffs enjoyed our lunch here very much. You can choose if you want to have table service not. Drinks and food is reasonable for the price.

Very basic hotel, breakfast very average, issues with hot water in the showers, weak coffee at breakfast and slow service. Don’t stay if you want sleep! Very loud band’s play on a Friday and Saturday night and you aren’t told about this until you check in so best to check before you book! Plus you can hear the pub downstairs! Great location though and Abergavenny is amazing

Very enjoyable stay at an old building which has been carefully modernised apart from the bar's stone floor which is. probably, not allowed to be changed. Excellent staff and breakfast.

Lovely stay at the Kings Head, Abergavenny, lovely friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms, very quiet only downside was the parking as they shut off the street between 8 am and 4pm, plenty of car parks close by though.

We booked a room as we were going to see Wales vs Scotland at the principality stadium and Cardiff was proving difficult. The train station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel, you are in Cardiff central within 40 mins or Newport even less. Staff are very friendly. Our family room was spacious and clean. When checking in the member of staff asked if we would like a table in the restaurant for after the rugby. The food was exceptional and good value for money. The bar adjoining also had live music but this did not ruin the restaurant experience. They had a lot of choice for drinks in the bar and restaurant. Music stopped promptly around 11ish so we still managed a good night sleep. Beds were comfy and tea/coffee/water/bathroom amenities were good. We enjoyed a very good breakfast in the morning and checkout was 11am which gave us time for a quick walk around the town before leaving. If you are looking for a decent little pub/restaurant/hotel in Abergavenny then I highly recommend this place.

Hotel very central in Abergavenny! Lively hotel restaurant and attached bar area. Single room was very clean super shower and clean comfortable bed. If you want to get to sleep before 11.00 on Saturday night there will be noise from bar (singer performing) Wi-Fi was good in room and tea/coffee making facilities! Just two negatives Advertised parking the hotel has no actual carpark and is in a pedestrian area on Saturday! I booked in at reception which is actually the restaurant so quite busy All in all an excellent two nights for the price 😀
