Dorstan House

Simple room in converted private home, but establishment has a good and friendly host and offers a fine, although small, breakfast. I was walking to and from the centre, which is doable, but takes 20 minutes at least. There are several options for grocery shopping on the road between centre and guest house. The guest house does not like you to bring takeaway, so I guess stay away from hot meals. But I assume salads and cold meals are OK to bring to room.

Really nice property. Near convenient bus lines. Staff over the top helpful, and informative. Would love to stay next time in Edinburgh!

On arrival we was greated by the owner who is extremely friendly and approachable, We was provided with a map of the area and some information on transportation. Room is large in size and very well maintained. Lots of original features within the room that gives it that grand feel. So far so good.

What a gem: fantastic rooms, great breakfast and very friendly owner! I stayed here with my Mum, and although I thought I booked one room with 2 beds, it turned out that room 8 has two combined rooms! It’s very luxurious, with separate showers. The beds are fantastic as well. The distance to the center is very doable, a nice walk or a drive of 10 minutes. Also; the neighbourhood is beautiful and very quiet at night, a lovely break when you’ve spend the whole day in the crowded city. I highly recommend this hotel!

The house and room were very nice. The mattress was okay. The owners were so nice and helpful. Went out of their way to be helpful.

I went to a function this week end and needed somewhere to stay , My needs were basic I needed a roof over my head for three days .I went on line and booked through booking dot com. Arrived Friday afternoon and was met by then owner a very pleasant chap , he showed me my room and explained the Breakfast works etc and nothing was too much trouble . OK the room was spotless it had everything you could want for a visit to Edinburgh . The bathroom was spotless , the beds were clean the floors had been hoovered , and the shower was nice and hot . The breakfast was of the continental type you had to choose and it was brought to your room and there was a good selection to be fair . As for links into the city a few hundred yards up the road turn right and you have got a bus stop which is serviced by more than one number bus and its cheap to get around . If I have the chance to go back to Edinburgh for future events I will defiantly be returning . All in all really friendly place to stay

Traveling solo and this was a wonderful respite from the crowded streets. Lovely breakfast and cozy room. Felt like I was staying at a relative's home. I walked to the castle when weather was nice. I would stay again!
