Hotel Brandenburger Hof

The only positive about this extremely old-fashioned ‘hotel’ is that it is only a 5 minute walk from the main station, that is if you take the correct exit! The hotel staff were also friendly and helpful. My room (fourth floor) was dated and soulless and Wi-Fi was sporadic to non-existent. It had a separate WC and shower room (although I did know about this when booking) which meant I was constantly awoken during the night by people popping to the bathroom. The one good point with regards the room was that it had a balcony. Good in the summer, not so much in February! Overall, a hotel in need of resuscitation although in a good location.

Watch out, you must contact the hotel to reserve a parking spot.. they only have 5 free spots. It says free parking. Most rooms has shared bathrooms, didn’t see that either when I booked. Third floor, no elevator. Small room and small tv. Very pricy for what you get.

Only 6 minutes walking distance from Cologne Central station, super comfortable bed (best nights' sleep I've had), good shower pressure, all in all would highly recommended. Would have been good to have kettle and tea making facilities in the room but there was a hot water dispenser in the reception (which I didn't use).

The hotel is in a handy location. There's on-street parking about an 8 minute walk away for €5 per day (if you're unable to reserve a free hotel spot, Clever Str is an almost straight walk to the hotel, only turning onto the hotel street). Central station and the cathedral are only a few minutes away also. Everything was clean, the breakfast was a decent, continental style selection (and a pain au chocolate for later) and the staff are helpful and can keep your room key behind the desk while you are out. The biggest grumble was having a shared bathroom - 1 or 2 per floor. It wasn't a huge deal, but if someone is using the toilet or showering, you have to go to other floors. But as a stop off and resting point, it was great. We were there to see the city, didn't need the hotel to have anything too special.

The hotel was very nice inside, and the staff was helpful and kind. There's no elevator, so be prepared to carry your bags up some stairs. The street outside got a little loud in the morning, but was not bad overnight. Convenient location right near the train station!

The only reason I don't give this place a 5* rating is because it's not the most luxurious hotel in the world but it's certainly worth the money. I spent approximately £50 for a one night stay and I was not disappointed. It had everything you needed (a TV, spacious bed, hairdryer, WIFI etc). The staff here are very friendly and I was pleasantly surprised to find that breakfast was included in the price (continental obviously). The food was really nice and set me up for the day. For some of the more withdrawn customers, the staff are a bit "in your face" but that didn't put me off because they were really attentive. I got locked out of my room and a very friendly gentleman helped me get back in. Now for the cons (and I use the term very loosely as there weren't really any cons at all). The toilet and bathroom facilities are shared and there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The room was rather hot but this didn't detract from my stay as I didn't mention it (I just opened the very large window out). This is not the Ritz by any stretch of the imagination but all these cons are nothing really in comparison to the price I paid. It is very close the the central train station and city centre. I would honestly have no hesitation at all in reccommending staying here.

This hotel is easy to find from the Station. I had a single room with no bathroom. The shared bathroom down the corridor was clean and the shower was really powerful. There was no kettle in the room which was disappointing but facilities in reception for you to make your own if required. My room was clean and comfortable - I can't complain at all.
