I had spent ages googling “ Luxury Christchurch Accommodation”, and time and time again, Dyers House came up. We booked the garden room. Check in was warm and easy - Barry and Angela met us at the front door, and instantly made us feel like very special guests. As we were shown to our room, the scent of fresh flowers wafted thru the house. This historic home has been renovated with no expense spared, and so many special touches, I’m sure I will forget to mention some. Our room and bathroom were HUGE! The bedroom had elegant and exquisite furnishings, a bed that was divine, and a terrace straight off it where we had afternoon tea as we watched the birds flying around their divine garden ( a garden filled with lilacs, rhododendrons, bearded iris, cherry trees etc.) Beyond the garden lies sweeping views over Christchurch. Back to our room - our bathroom was incredible….everything heated, including the floor. Massive walk in shower, fluffy and soft bath towels, exquisite decor. Breakfast - this literally blew our minds - pastries, muffins, variety of yoghurts, fruit, including rare and exotic…cheeses, cold meats, the list went on and on. Barry made us piping hot coffee, while Angela spoilt us rotten! The hosts - Barry and Angela just love hosting people from around the world, and love spoiling them too. Both have had interesting careers that have taken them all over the globe - they have amazing stories to share, we found them to be caring, thoughtful hosts that could not do enough to make your stay as perfect as possible. The scenic location is worth the stay alone, but given the close proximity down the hill of great restaurants to chose from for dinner, added to the fact your room is divine, the hosts just lovely, and the magnificent breakfast - make this your first and only choice for Christchurch. Oh - and did I mention the afternoon tea? We sat on a private terrace, covered in roses, and ate the most divine gateaux and sweet treats. Shame I can only give them 10/10, they deserve more!

This is one of the loveliest places I have ever stayed - it represents everything about the legendary New Zealand Hospitality that you have ever imagined. Run by the owner, Chet, who delivers a truly personal and welcoming experience for every guest. I stayed for four nights and every morning there was a breakfast banquet of fresh fruits, cereals, milks for everyone ( soy, oat , dairy) , freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly made coffee, hot toast and so many condiments to chose from . You sit round a large table which is social and interesting to find out what others are planning. On the one morning when I had a very early start, a breakfast was placed carefully outside my room for me to enjoy before setting off at 5.30am - such thoughtful service. My room was the little ‘sleep out’ which is a super cosy ensuite room with a lovely bed and excellent shower as well - set in the carefully designed courtyard, which has a lovely small pond and flowers and plants that clearly the local birds and bees really enjoy too. A very relaxing place to sit and unwind in after a busy day . In terms of location, when you arrive Chet takes you through a carefully, prepared map and gives you a link to a web page he has created full of useful tips and hints . The public bus system in Christchurch makes it very easy and cheap to get all over the place . Chet also offers a laundry service, but please remember this is not a laundromat, so you if you need something urgently then look for that, but if you have a day or two then your laundry is done and returned all very efficiently. So in summary, if you want to experience real New Zealand hospitality, look no further than Designer Cottage !

El albergue es un punto culminante de esta ciudad porque está reconvertido de una antigua prisión. El estilo carcelario es un poco deprimente, sobre todo porque está ubicado en una calle diminuta donde no hay nada ... un poco como en el fin del mundo. Es agradable dormir una noche, pero probablemente no más. Bueno, pero a todo el mundo le gustan otras atracciones y, en general, el albergue no está mal.

Nos quedamos muy poco tiempo (de medianoche a 6 a. M.) Cuando llegamos, fue difícil entrar al hotel. Con suerte, hubo una persona al azar que nos ayudó. Entonces tienes que llamar al encargado (no había nadie en la recepción). La persona llegó bastante rápido y fue muy amable con nosotros. Nos ayudó a reservar un taxi para la mañana siguiente. La habitación era MUY pequeña, aunque la cama era una de las más cómodas en las que dormimos.

Nos quedamos en el hotel por 4 noches, llegamos primero al hotel, la recepción era lo suficientemente amable pero no tan útil como cualquier personal de la mesa delantera podría ser. La habitación era limpia y cómoda, la ubicación era fantástica, el entorno era maravilloso (muy, pocos huéspedes calientes). Pero de alguna manera mi esposa perdió su anillo de boda de nuestra habitación. El Sr. *********, el gerente del hotel, lo hizo aún peor desde el punto de vista de los viajeros. ¡En lugar de ofrecerle la empatia, ha vuelto a hacerse cargo de los huéspedes del hotel que perdieron el anillo de bodas en su habitación en su hotel. Reaccionó con la apariencia de que se preguntaba sobre CCTV, distinto del registro de acceso a la puerta que podía proporcionar inmediatamente, y que estaba de acuerdo con su respuesta y su actitud hacia alguien que se volvió a buscar el anillo que faltaba. No fue amable, empatico ni bienvenido a pesar de que se encuentra en la industria de la hospitalidad. No estoy acusando a nadie aquí ni haciendo ninguna acusación contra nadie, pero él como el gerente del hotel fue el único que podíamos buscar ayuda en un país extranjero, y esperaba que entendieramos cómo funcionaba la policía y el sistema aquí. Para nosotros, nos hizo sonar como *** y ser olvidados de nuestras propiedades.

Reservé una habitación privada doble y no esperaba un buen sueño porque las personas subiendo y bajando la escalera suena como un rebaño de rino. La cocina tiene mucho espacio y el salón tiene mucho asiento de mesa. Las baños estaban limpias y la presión de ducha era grande. La ubicación del albergue es fantástica, pero el estacionamiento de la calle está medido y limitado entre 9am-6pm. En el hotel, el hotel está muy bien situado, pero el hotel está muy cerca de la ciudad, y el hotel está muy cerca de la ciudad. Hay calles libres pero tengan cuidado con los residentes.
