This hotel has decent reviews, nice pictures. It all begins with disclaimers while you book. This hotel is in the middle of old town Chania, and has no parking. We double parked on the street to unload all the luggage. The hotel recommended parking at the East Ditch parking lot , which is free, but is a 10 minute walk. It is made further confusing because the Apple and google maps take you to the wrong address. This is because the street it is on bisects a pedestrian street named “Potie”. We had to ask a shop keeper how to find it after attempting to call the hotel 3 times and they failed to answer. For me, it’s just okay. We booked a “penthouse” room with private jacuzzi. For me that meant the top room, come to find out there are 4 in total. Additionally, the jacuzzi is nothing more than a jetted bathtub in the roof deck (which all the penthouses can view). The room is nice, but its quirks are weird. The platform bed (left side) makes it impossible to get out of bed without climbing down the bottom of the bed, as the platform is connected to the wall. Not favorable for going to the bathroom mid sleep. The shower/toilet area are set behind a large frosted glass door equipped with a privacy curtain(but operated from the outside). The curtain bulks up in the shower side (right) and makes the shower dark. And with no light installed above, the shower itself is dark. The technology, needs serious help. The AC controls require actual interference from staff to get to work properly, and even then have to be reset every time you leave the room. Needless to say, in Chania, which in the summer is 100 degrees means you will want the room cooled down when you return from walking around town. This room was $284 a night for us, and we truly thought we were getting a private hot tub room with a nice view. The view was fine, and at night when the city comes to light under sunset it’s nice to be in the center. Upon checkout they held our luggage graciously while we shopped. When we got back (in under 90 Minutes) I had left a redbull in the fridge, and they refused to retrieve saying the room belonged to another guest. Well check in is at 3pm. The request was made at 11:30. That seems off and in bad customer service. Breakfast staff were a total delight. Bright, cheerful, accommodating, just what you want at that hour. I hope this review helps, as that is the perspective it was written from.

This was a wonderful place to stay in Chania...it was just very hard to find! Very modern and elegant, very helpful front desk, very well located, beautiful room, quiet place to sleep. What made it particularly nice for us was our private terrace with a jacuzzi -- a great place to relax after one day's hike in Imbros Gorge. Included breakfast, made very well, was a la carte -- as in, pick a dish, no buffet. When we explained we were leaving early in the morning to catch a 6 am plane, they arranged for a taxi to the airport & without our asking said they'd leave a boxed breakfast for us to take away in the morning. The only hassle was finding the place as we drove into Chania; even Google Maps didn't help, partly because you can't drive to the front door of the hotel since it's on a narrow pedestrian-only alley that's up some stairs & hard to see from the street. (I had to ask at a local bar for directions.) If you're driving, all I can say is drive down Katre Street (one way), make a left at Sifaka (one way), then, about 20 yards up the hill, there's a set of stairs on the right between Barcelona Bar and a cutlery shop. Go up the stairs, walk 20 yards, and reception is on the left (after the entrance to the restaurant.) Difficult to find it, but worth it.

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights in one of the Penthouse suites which has a rooftop deck, sunbeds, umbrella and jacuzzi. Go for one of the rooftop suites - it's worth it with the views of old town and the mountains! Breakfast each morning was fresh and plentiful and they even arranged a boxed breakfast when we had to be up early for a tour the next day - just ask! I also loved that room service was possible without an additional charge. We ordered expresso martinis to enjoy one evening on the rooftop - so convenient! The spa area is cosy, but beware the pool is kept quite cold and was unfortunately too cold for us to enjoy. Lastly, I want to highlight the hotel restaurant, Mon.es. We had dinner here one night and it was one of the best meals we had on our entire trip in Crete.

My husband and I went for dinner to the Mon.es restaurant while visiting Chania. We were greeted by the server, Fanos, who immediately made us feel welcomed. He was able to quickly recommend a wine based on our usual liking and it was amazing! From the atmosphere to the best desert I’ve ever had, this place needs a Michelin star!

This is a really nice hotel in the old part of Chania. It is on a charming little street. The lobby and breakfast area are very quaint, with old exposed stone walls. We had a room with a rooftop seating area. We had dinner here which was very good, and breakfast was also very good, with a choice of eggs any style, plus breads, etc. The staff is very helpful. The only downside I would say is that they have gone over the top on trying to make the controls for lights, rooftop opening, temperature very sophisticated, making them actually hard to use. Overall, a really nice stay.

We stayed at the Monastery Estate Venetian Harbor hotel in Early June 2023 and we were very happy with our stay. The staff, to a person, were extremely polite, helpful, and attentive. We are told that the hotel was originally the home of a wealthy Venetian merchant (c. 1400), and then the home of a Turkish general (c. 1600), and now, beautifully restored and updated to modern standards without losing any of its old world charm. The building is beautifully and tastefully appointed with modern fixtures and there are some very clever solutions to space and interior design challenges stemming from the age of this lovely structure. The building's entrance, like so many buildings in Chania, is located in an alleyway which would be challenging to find (the first time) without assistance. But the staff came to greet us at our taxi so we had no issues there. The Monastery Estate is located in the old Venetian city and very close to the harbor (mostly, the restaurants that ring the Harbor are of low quality, but the Hotel staff can help you with better options), so one doesn't need any transportation to get around except a good pair of walking shoes (ladies - there are lots of old cobblestone streets). I'm sure I'm leaving out many details (like the amazing breakfast), but it suffices to say that we were very comfortable at the Monastery estate hotel and sad to leave. If we return to Chania, we will stay there again without hesitation.

Monastery Estate was the first hotel that my wife and I stayed at on our honeymoon and we had a great experience. We arrived late in the evening our first night and were treated to a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival. The staff brought our bags to our room and made sure that we were able to be accommodated for a late – and delicious – meal at their MonEs restaurant. On our first full day at the hotel, we signed up for massages, which were up there with the best we’ve ever had. One of the hotel highlights for us was the daily breakfast – everything was prepared fresh with clean ingredients and was incredibly tasty. These breakfasts really helped to properly fuel us for our activities each day. We also enjoyed using the hot tub on the rooftop we had access to. The views from there were fantastic. Overall we had a very positive experience. The staff was friendly, the accommodations were comfortable and the location in the heart of Old Town was convenient.
