Excellent Indian menu here and great, friendly service. Had a delicious Madras curry on latest visit. Lovely rich sauce, perfect amount of heat without overpowering the flavours. Lots of tender lamb in the dish, considerably more than some others I've visited recently. Recommended :-)

My friend and I had fab lamb madras and South Indian lamb with spicy rice and garlic nan. Plenty of meat, plenty of flavour and just the right amount of heat. Service was top notch and prices super reasonable. This was my friend's first visit but my second (under new owners as of February 2024). Previously I had a spicy pizza which was delicious. Good balance of fresh toppings.

Excellent dining experience this time around! My wife and I came here a good couple of years ago (-ish) and never planned to go back, based on the way the owner/manager at the time spoke to their staff (not clear who it was but clearly someone who thought themselves an authority!). The food was pretty basic and they were so disrespectful to their staff that we both left agreeing we'd never line their pockets again (looking at other reviews, we were not alone!). This was very different. We had booked for the new Sunday afternoon Indian buffet for 4 adults and 2 children. Was so good! Great quality food and the service was fantastic. I'd phoned up in advance to check if it was worth me having the buffet or ordering off the menu (veggie) and they went to the trouble of adding two extra veggie curries to the buffet for our visit. The new manager was across very often, always checking our food was fine and he even put on an entire extra cheese pizza for the kids for nothing (and a cheeky wee extra fruit shoot too). Great service and he clearly cared about improving what is evidently a 'mixed' reputation for the restaurant. It may be the same owners as before (not sure) but they've made a good decision bringing a manager in who cares about good service! Great food, great service, we'd go back next week happily!

Went in on a Monday night and welcomed by the manager. Immediately made to feel welcome. We had a couple of beers and decided to order food. I never imagined the menu would have such a large choice. Curries, kebabs, pizzas and a variety of side dishes. The food was very good and the portion size was brilliant. Decent value for what you get. There was free pool and a free jukebox that night which was also a nice touch.

Decent local pub with nice staff. Just moved into the town and I was looking for a local pub. This place is dead thru the week and apart from Friday nights, dead all weekend. Meals we have had are very good, as is the carry out. My big problem is that they seem to be constantly running out of beer. Not fancy cask ales, but your standard pub beers. Stella Artois, Coors Lite and Tennant Lager. There are more beer taps with glasses on them, indicating they are out, than there are with beer. Not sure who does the stock taking and ordering, but he needs a shake up and a calculator. Surely it’s easy to calculate consumption of different beers with modern tills. The other pubs I have used in the town don’t seem to have these shortage issues. It has to be down to the Aboukir management, or lack of it. Shame as it’s a long walk to the other pubs from my house, but at least they have beer.

Great atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, food excellent. Would highly recommend a visit. Food is great with a wide variety of dishes. Staff very helpful with good table service. Great place for a visit even better in summer as have a lovely garden. See you all again soon.

Disgusting! Cracked toilet seat. Filthy shower. Given one towel between 2 on arrival asked for more and was given the only 2 other towels in the hotel. Within 4 hours of arrival we were the only people in the hotel. The owners/ staff had all left so we couldn’t complain. We booked for 2 nights but left after one & got charged for 2. Don’t go.

Closed as an Indian restaurant/ bar, re-opens as exactly the same !! Obviously a weeks closure isn’t enough to complete any kind of refurb as advertised, but I did assume for a little more than the just the wall border paint to have changed from Red to Green, but that looks like it. Light bulb still hanging out of the gents toilet ceiling obviously not a priority either. Indian restaurant to open next week apparently, just what we need in a town full of them. Pool table still there, juke box too. I did hope for so much better from a pub with the biggest customer catchment area in the town, people walk past here to get to all the other pubs. Let’s see how it goes, but not a great start.

We stayed as a couple with a large dog. It was honestly the friendliest place we’ve been. Made to feel instantly welcome, like one of the locals, all so friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Room was spacious with all the amenities you would need. Area was lovely with an amazing beach for long walks with Nico the dog. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend ☺️
