«The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile!
It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement.
On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!»

KKeng TWe stayed at the hotel in late 2025.3 Everything exceeded our expectations. When I book, it seems the location outside the city is a drawback of this hotel, which is compensated by a free pickup. But for a sightseeing trip in ZhangYe and with services the hotel has to offer, the location doesn't matter at all. Not to mention that the hotel's car+driver offer is quite competitive compared to what we have pre-booked. ###Room###: The room was spacious with comfortable beds and lots of amenities. WiFi speed is decent. There is also a public washing & drying machine, where the maid offered to wash our clothes. ###Restaurant###: The breakfast was plenty. The dinner offer a wide variety of local and standard dishes at an accpetable price. We got a free decent late night snack/dessert (with milk for children) delivered to the room at night. ###Staff###: The staff was very attentive. It started with the driver waiting at the train staion exit. Then we were greeted at the hotel by a staff with a good command of English. The staff has good knowledge of sightseeing spots in ZY. At dinner, the staffs made their best to help us understand the menu, patiently expained the food choices, as well as help estimate how much food we should order. (We are traveling with 2 children.) When we arrive back at the hotel in the evening, they enthusiasticly offered to help carry our stuffs. Tips are not expected nor accepted. If I have to comment, a moisturizing lotion and extra blankets in the room would help when the weather is cold. This hotel will definitely be my first choice if we ever come to Zhangye again.

UUsuario anónimoWe spent 9 days around LanZhou- XiNing - YinChuan staying in the top 5-star hotels in all 3 cities.
We can easily conclude that Hyatt Regency LanZhou is the best by a long shot. We were fortunate to have Mr. Yuan of the front desk arrange all our pre check in request.
And for a smooth check in- we were lucky to be received by Ms. Paris.
She was very gracious and professional.
Breakfast at the hotel should be one of LanZhou’s tourist attractions- such a memorable experience.
We will definitely be back in the future.

UUsuario anónimoOn baidu map, it says that from Zhangye railway station to the hotel is about 3 km but when actually navigating my way over while carrying a luggage, it was so much further than I'd expect because Zhnagye's road and traffic are quite chaotic. Many traffic lights aren't even in operation and there are quite a few (3 I think) t+junctions that pedestrian have to cross via the underpass. The cars doesn't quite obey the traffic lights, so be careful and cautious.
For the hotel itself, it's definitely one of my favorite overall, out of my 3 hotel stays during my trip. According to the receptionist I was offered a room upgrade, so thank you! There were also lots of free treats evertime I cleared it, so thank you again! Love especially the red dates yogurt, it's definitely a must try (although they were 2-3days after expiry). I even went out to the grocery to get more! Regarding the amenities, the air conditioner works but can't be controlled. Tried setting temp to 5 degree Celsius (lowest settings) and 30 degree celcius (highest setting), both doesn't work. It seems like it is fixed to room temp +/- a few degrees based on the temp outdoor. One of the day I had sunburn and wanted to cool off but due to how the temp was determined, I have no choice but to sweat it out. Other than that, the tap water here had very visible residue that you can tell that it isn't clear, so I really recommend not using it for drinking water boiled or not. Aon my last day, I wanted to try the bathtub but when I turned on the tap, I had a shock. The water that came out was brown, so I cancelled my initial plan of using it for relaxation 😕. There is also a humidifier provided and I am super grateful for that, however the water ran out on the 2nd day and I can't seem to fill it up correctly. The toilet bowl is also a smart toilet bowl, but I didn't realized it after closer inspection while trying to find how to flush. Lastly, I was so looking forward to the stars celling but it's kinda sad that you can't turn it on on its own without having the other lights turned on as well. Which honestly defeats the purpose of having a star gazing celling.

No solo pagué de más incluso después de negociar, sino que el conductor pasó la primera parte del viaje enviando mensajes de texto y tuve que pasarle el brazo por encima porque estábamos a punto de chocar por detrás con otro coche. 20 minutos después llegamos a la entrada del parque Maiji Shan. El amable propietario ya estaba allí y me ayudó inmediatamente con mis maletas. Unos minutos en coche hasta la espaciosa casa de campo. Pedí un plato de fideos que estaba caliente y delicioso, servido por una anciana. El desayuno chino de la granja era abundante. Usé la calefacción ya que las montañas se enfriaban rápidamente cuando se ponía el sol. La habitación impecable era grande con dos camas dobles, un televisor y un escritorio. El baño tenía inodoro y ducha integrados, así que estaba húmedo. Había mucha agua caliente, aunque encenderla era cuestión de pulsar un botón. ¡Aprendí algo nuevo! Se proporcionaron artículos de aseo y toallas de papel (otra novedad). El dueño me llevó a Maiji Shan. Lamentablemente, estaba cerrado; la lluvia había provocado la caída de rocas, lo que hacía peligroso subir las escaleras. Sin embargo, tomé algunas fotos. El Sr. Li Xia superlativo y todos los miembros del personal, incluidos los receptores, el restaurante y el desayuno, el hombre de mantenimiento y la dama que limpió mi habitación, fueron tan amables y útiles que me hacen gloriosamente memorable mi estadía. ¡He tenido un tiempo tan feliz y lujoso, este es uno de mis hoteles favoritos y en mi viaje de automóvil solo por tierra de Inglaterra he estado en un par de lugares! LLux.EThis was my first stop in China and I’m so happy that I stayed in Dunhuang at Baibaili Hotel. I was looked after so well, the hospitality of the staff extended many times for several necessities and I’m touched by their hospitality. This will for a very long time, be my remarkable first impression of China, its people and their culture.
The location is perfect if you want to stay a bit further out from town and enjoy the silence of being closer to the desert and the stunning design of the place.
Beautiful and comfortable room, all the final touches refined every day and after 24 hrs of travelling; a generous fruit and snack plate that grounded me sweetly into Dunhuang upon arrival and farewelled me just after mid-autumn with a beautiful moon cake.
Their communication was frequent and always made sure I had what I needed.

UUsuario invitadoOverall, I'm giving this hotel five stars, but it's not for everyone.
This place is for people seeking a slice of life...It promotes a slow pace and to really understand the hotels value you need to actually spend time there. Also looks really ideal of families - lots of area for kids to roam without getting into trouble.
If you just want a bed to crash in while spending most of your time outside, don't stay here.
Also if you want the most Instagrammable hotel around? Yes, book it.
Pros:
Amazing view, super peaceful. The layout feels like a camp you walk out and you're right in the common area, easy to relax. I came back late one night and heard absolutely nothing for a long time.
Service is genuinely 5-star; they really care about your experience. Some previous reviews mentioned they staff attitude is bad - I confirm this is either fixed or incorrect. Maybe I don't expect people to pamper me 24/7. There are plenty of staff and if you chat to them or make a request they will 100% help.
Rooms are cleaned well.
Some previous reviews said the aircon was bad, but mine worked great, and hot water never ran out, temperature is easy to control. Also, people said no food delivery - wrong. I got delivery even during a sandstorm, no issues.
Taxis and Didi come to the hotel fine, about 12 kuai from the center.
Cons:
The bathroom is extremely small. If you're over 177cm / 73kg or have a broad build, I can't recommend you stay here.
I kept bumping into walls, and the shower curtain stuck to my skin mid-shower – my biggest letdown.
The room gets hot, stuffy, and smelly if you turn the aircon off during summer days. I made that mistake once. I'd suggest the hotel install sensors to manage temperature or air out rooms when guests are out.
Breakfast is simple – looks and tastes fine, but gets repetitive and you can't choose from a menu.
