Actually visited September 2022 but the option was not there to add that date. The hotel location is on the edge of the town with mountain views to the one side. The outdoor pool and spa area was very relaxing. The host and all the staff were all very welcoming and we chose this hotel because it came with a pass to local transport and ski lifts which proved to be a great saver and made our vacation. The food was faultless 5 course every day with afternoon cakes and drinks if you wanted them. I would definitely stay here again. Our break was end of summer and the weather was great for walking in the mountains in a shorts and tee shirt.

Zell am See is a beautiful Austrian town, and has some amazing shops, bars and restaurants. It’s well worth a visit. The Hotel Berner is placed just out of the town, ideally placed between the two main lifts out of the town, and is therefore a very short walk to the slopes/apres ski. The hotel staff are all excellent, very attentive and really want you to have a super time. Christoph, the owner, really does go above and beyond with a speech to all new guests, personally taking guests on a ski tour around Zell’s slopes, and welcoming everyone personally as they arrive. It’s a spotless hotel, food standard are excellent with a great breakfast and evening meal selection, and cake served in the afternoon. The skiing is ok at Zell, but somewhat limited, however if you have an all area ski pass then a free bus ride to Kaprun, Saalbach or Hinterglemm is very much recommended (and the skiing is much more vast).

Highly recommended. Excellent in every respect. Great location for the lifts, close to ski hire shop (and also the bus stop for day trips to adjacent Kaprun). One of the prettiest resorts I’ve skied and never had a lift queue anywhere (1st wk in Jan). Excellent food (half board), dinner always felt a special occasion with an extensive salad buffet to supplement the table service of the other gourmet standard courses. Warm friendly staff, very well and attentively managed by Christof. Spacious well appointed room (we had a room 105 for 3 adults, it was ideal tho the sofa bed needed an extra topper this was quickly provided), lovely snuggly duvets, powerful showers and an amazing spa suite. Hotel is pristine, very traditional in style. Good secure ski room with heated boot racks. I dont recognise previous comments about it being tired/ shabby so assume it’s since been freshly decorated as it was absolutely immaculate everywhere. Would highly recommend this hotel, and would stay again without hesitation. Thumbs up from me, with thanks to Christof and his team for a great stay.

The food is excellent, with so much choice at breakfast and a 6 course evening meal. The staff are so welcoming, helpful and friendly and Mr Berner himself serves at some of the meals. The hotel is in a very quiet location, ideally situated just a few minutes walk from the town. The light and sound show which was on several times a week was worth the 5 minute walk to the lake. The only negative is that the hotel is a little tired and frayed around the edges but nevertheless very clean.

Stayed here with family and friends for a skiing holiday in March. The hotel is excellent and although we couldn't take advantage of the ski in ski out due to the unseasonably warm weather the hotel is so close to the City Express lift and bus depot thus did not matter. The warm welcome at the hotel continued all week and the staff serving breakfast and dinner soon got to know us and catered for our needs very efficiently. The spa area is welcome after a day on the slopes. We especially took advantage of the outdoor pool with water jets and jacuzzi to sooth tired legs. My party also took advantage of a morning skiing with Christof, the hotel owner, who took us on a number of slopes finishing off with a welcome stop at a restaurant up the mountain. The food at the hotel is second to none and is probably the finest we've had on many skiing trips. Overall a hotel which would be hard to better in Zell am See.

Very friendly hotel with lovely facilities, especially the pool. Great food and helpful staff. Perfect location to easily explore the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our recent holiday and highly recommend Hotel Berner.

So many positives to a stay in this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, perfect outdoor pool with loungers, food to die for, one of the best locations in Zell, comfortable room and a very high standard of hygiene add to all this the Zell am see summer card and you would be hard pressed to give less than a five star review. Yes you could say it’s maybe ready for an update but only a couple of years out of COVID so I’m sure their survival is the first goal. We had a wonderful week and will definitely be back if only for the food!!

We enjoyed a skiing holiday at Hotel Berner with our family of four. Over the past 20 years or so, I've stayed in many very good and some mediocre hotels in the Alps. I'm not big on writing reviews, but for Hotel Berner I wanted to. As said in many reviews already, the location is great, the rooms are comfortable, the food is excellent, and the sauna area is very nice. No question, a top-notch hotel by those merits alone. However, what really set it apart was the atmosphere created by the staff and especially the owner, Christoph. It is extremely rare to experience the genuine, beyond-expected hospitality that we did. No matter the rating, you will not find this in a chain hotel. I rarely go to the same hotel twice in my travels, but I now plan a late summer golf trip to Zell am See, largely due to Hotel Berner. That's how much I enjoyed it. I can wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Berner. If you go there in the winter, go with Christoph when he takes his guests skiing. I promise you'll have a hard time keeping up no matter how good you are!

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. When you enter , the lobby area is nice . And that’s about it. The room we stayed in was dated and the carpet was full of stains. In a 4 star hotel the standards for cleanliness should be higher. We had the most unpleasant experience for 2 days at breakfast. We walked in the restaurant and waited to be seated. The majority of tables were nicely done . The hostess had a hard time locating our name on the guests lists and when she was able to confirm we had the breakfast included in our stay she led us to a table that needed to be done. Ok, no big deal we thought. It’s the 1st day and they were not prepared for us. But unfortunately this happened again on the 2nd day. No table ready for us! We felt treated like 2nd class citizens. We are well travelled and this is by far one of the most disappointing stay we ever had. Not a single time we heard an apology.
