Hotel Comfort

The Comfort Hotel is within walking distance to Skandberg Square in central Tirana and conveniently located across the street from a bakery and mini-superette. My room was clean, had adequate hot water and stable wi-fi connectivity – three of my must haves for budget lodgings. There are a few short comings, my room lacked an accessible power outlet and the morning buffet breakfast is limited – the only fruit offering was sliced watermelon. However this deficiency was more than offset by young Siobara's attentive service at the front desk. Besides her native Albanian she is conversant in French and could be mistaken for an American with her easy going demeanor and flawless English.

This hotel gets an average from me because it is centrally located, the room was clean, the young lady at the front desk in the evening was so very nice and helpful, the morning clerk was nice as well as the lady in the breakfast cafe. Outside of those things, the worse was the smell of cigarette smoke that seeps into your room from the cafe below. I had to wear a mask while in the room. That smell was mostly at night when you are trying to sleep (we normally leave and return late in the evenings). I did not complain since I am sure there was little that nice young lady could do about it. Plus, to walk into the hotel, you will have to walk by the extremely smokey cafe attached to the hotel. Also awful was what they termed breakfast. Absolutely beneath the pit. My wife and I had a good laugh when a lady and her husband came down the second day to eat, took a look at what was displayed and immediately turned around and walked off disgusted. Hahaha. But, yes, the breakfast was dreadful! Just go and seek breakfast somewhere else. Also, I also got a chuckle on reading a sign that says you cannot take breakfast from the cafe to your room. My goodness! Who would take any food from that cafe?! Hahaha. Anyway, just go someplace else if you do not enjoy sleeping with the smell of cigarette smoke. For me, a C grade is more than appropriate.

We toughen we booked but turned out we selected wrong city in Albania. Comfortable beds and clean room with AC and fridge. Wish there was a safe, but the staff was very helpful and fix our booking error and got us a room last minute at great price. The bar is very chill. Too bad I couldn’t taste the breakfast but they got us a sandwich to take at 5 am. It’s also in great location not far from center 5 min walk.

We booked in advance as we were travelling over for the Europa Conference League final (football). We stayed for 2 nights. The service received was exceptional, even though we only spoke English, everyone made an effort and during the day, the personnel were very good at communicating with us. On the first night we had the beds as a double bed but noticed they were two singles pushed together. As we didn't have the right bedding we asked at reception and within minutes, they sorted the room for us. On our second day we asked at reception to book us a taxi for the next morning as we had a flight first thing in the morning. This was booked for us and the lady gave us the phone number and all details of booking including the price. Very easy and the taxi was on time. For €10 it was also very cheap. The room itself was more than adequate. Beds were comfortable and both of us had a good nights sleep. The bathroom again had everything that was needed and the area was very quiet. Location wise this was spot on. It was only a 10 min walk to Skanderberg Square and most of the city vicinity of Tirana was easily walkable. Bars/restaurants are everywhere, some on the road of the hotel and also further into the city. There is also a small convenience store right across the road for any essentials (e.g. water). Reading some of the reviews about the breakfast put some doubt about whether we would find enough to eat but we were both well fed. Yes it is fairly basic but there is enough to get you on the road. Bread, pastry, eggs, some cheeses and spreads along with a hot drink included, juices and water. The price was also fantastic and it was more than worth every penny. Would 100% return here if we came back to Tirana. Overall a great stay in a lovely city.

Non so per quale motivo abbia quattro stelle. Letto comodo ma stanza obsoleta (la porta non chiudeva bene) e non insonorizzata (sembrava di stare nel cortile). Ascensore inutilizzabile perché piccolissima. Nessuno del personale parla inglese e/o italiano. La colazione al buffet è molto misera, se integrata con bevande da bar (cappuccino o caffè) quest’ultime sono a pagamento ed attenzione a chi pagate… per una stessa consumazione ci hanno richiesto due volte il pagamento perché qualcuno si è intascato i soldi. E” praticamente impossibile parlare con il manager.. Chicca finale: se fate il check out prima dell’orario di colazione (da ore 7,00) non rilasciano la bag da asporto pur essendo compresa nel prezzo e prenotata la sera prima. Altamente sconsigliato.

Brutta esperienza, hotel spacciato 4 stelle ma vale a malapena un 2 stelle mediocre; odore di fumo che ti seguiva fino in camera constringendoti a respirarlo per tutto il tempo. Colazione tristemente scarsa e scadente nella qualità e nella varietà discelta, con cibo (specie le uova fritte) stantio ripresentato fino ad esaurimento (comunque le uova erano sempre presenti e sempre più secche). Camera con un solo comodino peraltro mezzo rotto; TV non funzionante; niente cassaforte e frigo vuoto.
