We had an incredible stay at Zen Ju Qing Cheng Mountain — one of those rare places that feels less like a guesthouse and more like stepping into someone’s way of life. What truly made the stay unforgettable, were the owners, Colin and Xiaoxiao (Show). They are genuinely, unbelievably kind — the kind of hospitality that goes far beyond service. From the moment we arrived (after the small work-out of walking up an intense hill), we were welcomed like long-lost family. Other guests — many of them regulars — immediately included us and urged us to try local delicacies they brought, which says a lot about the atmosphere Colin and Show have created. There are so many small moments that stand out: being greeted with coffee in the morning (they take coffee very seriously, in the best way), tea in the afternoon (which they take just as seriously, it turns out!), and the constant sense that nothing is too much trouble. Whether it’s helping with transport, sharing local tips, or just making sure you’re comfortable, everything is done with warmth and sincerity. The setting is beautiful and serene, tucked into the mountain with a stunning courtyard full of flowers and greenery. You can tell Colin, one of the owners, has a real gift for it — everything feels alive and thoughtfully cared for. He even treks into the mountains to pick wild tea, which gives you a sense of how deeply connected the place is to its surroundings. That attention to detail carries through everywhere: fresh flowers in the rooms, calm design, and incredibly comfortable bedding. It’s one of those places where you start to wonder what a slower, more intentional way of living might feel like. Even just for a few days, you get a glimpse of that. If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain retreat with real soul — not just a place to stay, but an experience shaped by genuinely exceptional people — this is it.

I stayed at Dujiangyan Nanxi Villa, which is conveniently located near popular attractions like Nanqiao Bridge. There are also shops nearby, all within walking distance, making it a great location for exploring the area. The villa is beautifully designed and perfect for taking photos. I traveled with a group of five and booked two rooms. The room on the third floor had one king bed and one single bed, along with a projector, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The room on the first floor also had a king bed, and the single bed was replaced with a sofa since it was booked for two people, creating a more relaxing space. The property also features a lovely garden and a traditional Chinese tea area. They even provide traditional outfits for guests to wear and take photos, which was a really nice touch and a fun activity during our stay. Overall, it was a charming and memorable place to stay, especially for those who enjoy beautiful surroundings and unique experiences.

Location is in the middle of the city which is 2.5km to the old city (where you can access Nan Qiao Bridge and Dujiangyan Irrigation Scenic Spot), very walkable. Also nearby surrounding areas are filled with affordable eateries of all sorts. It also take 5 mins walk to the biggest mall in the city where you can find shopping and food. Across the mall also is another big mall. Room is clean and tidy. If come in winter has heating AC. Owners are very friendly and taking Didi to anywhere is fast and convenient. Thank you for the wonderful stay. Rooms & Tech (9/10): Highly modern and super clean. As a ”Smart Hotel,” it features full voice control (via Xiaodu smart assistant) for lights, TV, air conditioning, and curtains. Rooms are stylishly designed, and the beds are exceptionally comfortable after a long day of walking. Service (9/10): Exceptionally warm and helpful. The front desk staff are known for guiding guests on how to avoid tourist traps, helping book tickets, and providing free local snacks, tea, or coffee in the lobby. The Main Challenge: Since it is a smart hotel, the voice assistant primarily responds to Chinese commands. If you do not speak Chinese, you will have to control the lights and switches manually using the wall panels.

Ventajas: Cerca del Valle Panda, excelente ubicación. Servicio amable. El desayuno era sencillo pero delicioso. El entorno natural es precioso. Desventajas: 1. El mayor inconveniente de nuestra habitación era que el aire acondicionado estaba en el techo. No importaba lo alto o bajo que estuviera, el viento seguía zumbando, lo que nos impedía dormir. Tuvimos que apagarlo para dormir, pero seguía haciendo demasiado frío. Temblamos toda la noche, cubriéndonos la ropa con la colcha. Deberían cambiar el aire acondicionado. La viga del techo tampoco es un buen feng shui. 2. La habitación daba al pasillo, cerca de la recepción. Nos despertó varias veces en mitad de la noche el ruido de los check-in tardíos. Por las mañanas, también había check-outs tempranos y el ladrido de perros. Estaba prácticamente agotado por la noche y con muchísimo sueño por la mañana. La insonorización necesita mejorar. 3. El calentador de agua eléctrico, probablemente debido a que había demasiada gente usándolo por la noche, no calentaba el agua, lo que hacía imposible ducharse. El baño no estaba separado del inodoro, así que si nos duchábamos, el agua inundaba el inodoro. Sin embargo, debido al espacio limitado, podría no ser posible separarlo. Por la mañana, vi la habitación de enfrente con una cama de 1,8 metros. Estaba muy bien. El aire acondicionado estaba junto a la cama y no cerca del pasillo, así que no debería ser tan ruidoso. Quizás aún depende del tipo de habitación.

La habitación es un poco pequeña, pero perfecta para una estancia corta. Puedes iniciar el check-in a las 10:00 si está disponible. El hotel tiene un ascensor en la puerta trasera (en el estacionamiento de coches), por lo que no tienes que llevar tu equipaje hasta los pisos superiores.
