Great property. Rental car is a must. If you work remotely, consider that the wifi signal can be slow.

Beautiful location. Need to drive everywhere as it’s not close to downtown core and on a steep hillside. Had a car rental so that worked out well. Apar**ent with kitchen was great. Spacious.

I’d give 4.5* if I could due to minor cons, but they are quite insignificant cause the overall impression was fantastic. Luxury private property (from Blandy’s family) providing everything one might need for a luxurious stay. We’ve stayed in building 6, apt 30, so we were the closest to both main road with busses as the pool. Beautiful classy 2-bedroom apar**ent with everything one might need. I enjoyed waking up and having breakfast on the terrace enjoying the sea view. Very nice gesture of welcome bottle of Madeira and honey cake. The minors is that they could leave the essentials from previous guests like salt, pepper, sugar, olive oil, coffee, tea. There is literally nothing except for kitchenware, so you’ll have to buy everything. It can also be a bit noisy from the main road, especially if you prefer sleeping with an open window. And you’ll by all means need a car. Calling Bolt or taxi here can be a challenge- waiting time up to 40min. It’s easier to get from the city back. Cost 15-18€ and 15-20min. There is a bus though.

Property was excellent, safe, clean, and the location was fantastic. Unfortunately our unit was on the lower level so the views from our unit were not good. We had booked sea view and our view was blocked by trees so no real open sea view. Staff was good and responsive. Had washer in the unit but no dryer. There was a coffee machine but no coffee. Had to drive up to the clubhouse to get coffee daily morning.

A lovely hillside full of beautiful apar**ents/villas, with great views to the sea and Funchal. The central forum heated outdoor pool is free to use, but you will need to pay quite a bit extra for the gym (very tiny and not much equipment)/indoor pool which is based in the spa buildings at the top of the hill. See the hotel website for details. We had a car, so driving up and down the hill between the pool and villa was fine, but it would be a good walk up/down the hill if you didn't. I'd say staying here, a car makes things much much more convenient than if you don't have a car.

Had a great time in Palheiro village. The villa (3 bed) was very spacious and well furnished. Only slight downside was that some of the carpets had unsightly stains. We were very close to the swimming pool and games room, and made good use of these. A car is essential if staying in Palheiro village as is very hilly and a good distance from other locations. Maderia itself was wonderful, and the the relative close proximity of the villa to Funchal was good. Overall a great stay and highly recommended.
