"The shangri-la putian is conveniently located opposite a huge shopping mall and beside a garden. The room was nice and cosy and the service was attentive and impeccable, with Melvin (?) accompanying us to the room and constantly asked if we needed help with anything. All the staff were friendly and helpful and gave us many suggestions on where we could go during our stay and rarely have we experienced such excellent level of hospitality when staying at similar hotels. The river view we had was amazing. Food at shang garden was tasty, and Lydia's service was excellent, offering us extra snacks and soup. The portions served were huge and reasonably priced. "I don't understand how this hotel has so many good reviews. When we checked in, no one mentioned the facial recognition to enter the elevator. It startled us when our names popped up – it's advanced, but they really should have given us a heads-up. The room was impossible to stay in, so hot and stuffy. We arrived around 5 or 6 PM, and when we felt how hot it was in the room, I called the front desk. A woman answered, and I asked if we could switch to AC. She didn't tell me they only had heating, and even said she'd turn on the 'AC' for us. Later, we came back, and it was still stifling hot. The room only has one tiny window that can only open halfway. I called the front desk again, and this time a man answered. He said the heating was either on or off, and only then did he turn it off for us. We couldn't sleep at all that night; it was too stuffy and hot. The laundry room has four washers and four dryers, but no staff to manage them, you have to figure it out yourself. We went for breakfast around 8 AM, and many items were already gone, and they weren't replenished promptly. Honestly, it was a mess. What's the point of a hotel only caring about its appearance? The service is poor, the attitude is poor, everything is poor."

"The room was excellent and took great photos. Getting around was also convenient. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly friendly. This is my fifth time staying on Meizhou Island, and this is the most satisfying guesthouse I've ever stayed at in every aspect. They offer shuttle service to and from the island. Electric scooters are also available for rent, which is very convenient. I brought my daughter, and the owner thoughtfully cooked porridge for her. They even provided sand toys for us when we went to the beach. Enjoying tea downstairs was also very pleasant."

I stayed for two nights. On the first day, there was no water in the room due to a burst water pipe in the city, but the owner quickly provided a large bucket of water and a basin.
