Great location, friendly staff. Met our expectations. Decor is a little dated and old and the hotel restaurant and bar were closed for renovation which is a pity, but the hotel was convenient to walk to food outlets, trains and attractions.

Lots of the reviews here, I believe, are reviewing Mercure on Hay (the newer, more upmarket hotel and possibly better of the two although I haven’t seen it), whereas lots of reviews in Mercure Perth on Hay are referring to Mercure on Irwin. I’ve compared the photos and the hotel details and official photos are definitely that way round. SO… this one, Mercure Perth (which is on Irwin St) is the bad one. It’s awful. It’s tired, badly fitted out, dingy and I hope never to stay here again. My room was down a corridor of *****ed (and stained) carpet that made me feel nauseous to look at. The room was ok, the bed comfortable, but more stained carpet, and lots of things didn’t work. Several light bulbs were broken, lots of curtain hooks missing, the room safe didn’t work, the bath had a rusty patch in it. The aircon was too cold for me and I followed the instructions to turn up the temperature but it didn’t warm up. Two phone calls and three hours later, someone attended my room, told me the air con wasn’t adjustable as it’s one temperature for the whole building so the instructions were incorrect. He turned it off (supposedly) and I then spent my stay with no aircon although the room was still cold and not stuffy and the control panel didn’t say ‘off’ so I think the whole thing was just BS and they couldn’t be bothered to deal with it or give me another room. Staff care factor of the attendant was zero, and of the front desk staff, close to zero. I got woken up in the early hours of the morning several times by skip bins being moved around in the laneway outside (very loud chains being dropped in the skip bins and noise reverberation). The next night the fridge started making such a loud noise in the middle of the night that I had to turn it off and use the spare towels to absorb the water as it defrosted. I’m just curious why Mercure keep this one running. Perhaps it’s set at a different price range but it’s not doing their brand any favours with two Mercure hotels so close together, especially with all the reviews mixed up.

The good: Nice design. Relatively new. Location is great, and the view from the room was very nice, overlooking the water. The bad: Whilst we appreciated the ”welcome” we received in the room, whereby ALL the blinds were raised automatically when entering the room, this feature could not be turned off, and so when I returned to the room at night after my family had gone to sleep, all the blinds raised, disturbing everyone. I requested this feature be removed, but the only option was to disable the blinds completely. On the subject of blinds, the material used did not provide privacy from the street, so blockout blinds needed to be lowered as well. The controls to the blinds were sketchy... sometimes raising or sometimes lowering regardless of which button was pressed. It was an effort to get them to close! The key to the room did not work on the second day, and I had to stand in line for 20 mins, after which I was issued with a new key, which did not operate the lift, and so I had to return again to get this fixed. We ordered dinner in the room as the restaurant was closed. The quinoa was basically a very small sprinkle of quinoa... hardly a meal, or even a snack. The seafood pasta was served with 4 tiny prawns and 4 small scallops only. No crab or fish, as advertised. It was also extremely small, and drowned in butter. The lamb shank was okay, but nothing to write home about. The room was dusty in places. The paint was bubbling on the ceiling in places. The breakfast buffet was reasonable, however there was a swarm of small flies near the fruit. The coffee was awful, though my daughter raved about the chai latte. For a hotel of this (supposed) standard, and price, the breakfast was sub-par. There was also a guest pacing around whilst using his phone, hardly appropriate, and went unnoticed by the staff. All in all, I couldn't recommend this hotel to anyone for the price, around $800 per night. They also wanted an additional $125 per night for a rollaway, however we took our own blow up mattress and sleeping bag for our daughter instead.

Llegamos a Perth en 2.30am y recibimos un taxi directamente del aeropuerto. Como estaba en medio de la noche, tuvimos que presionar un buzón y esperar a alguien para hablar con nosotros a través del orador, aunque estaban dormidos o no podían estar molestados, así que presionamos el buzón por mucho tiempo, Finalmente alguien vino por el orador que fue distorsionado y me dijeron que no había dejado mi dedo en el buzzer, nos dejaron entrar y de nuevo comenzó a decirnos sobre el buzzer, lo ignoramos completamente indicando nuestro nombre y cuántas noches nos Nos encantaría ver el hotel, pero no sería un hotel muy agradable. Definitivamente necesita decorar, la cama parece ir un poco abajo la cabeza de la colina, ya que sentimos nuestros pies eran más altos que nuestras cabezas, las patas estaban planas, teníamos una hoja luego una cuchara que había visto mejores días y necesita una nueva y luego una hoja superior. El baño era básico, tenía ducha aunque hizo algunos narizes extraños y la temperatura estaba arriba y abajo, no hay plug en la bañera de mano, había toallas que nunca usábamos. El desayuno era muy básico, sólo algunos huevos fríos, huevos fríos cocidos, salada y tostadas. En el hotel, el hotel está situado en una zona de la ciudad, cerca del servicio Freebus, llamado servicio de gatos que se puede saltar y salir en cualquier momento.

Apartamento completamente nuevo con servicios de ubicación conveniente. Hay muchos restaurantes y un supermercado abierto las 24 horas en la planta baja. Puede caminar hasta la terminal de ferry al centro de la ciudad en 10 minutos a pie. No hay forma de actualizar porque la habitación con vista al río está llena. No se puede abrir la ventana.

¡El mejor es en Perth! la comida de clase de palabras, servicios y también Huuuuge ****** para los que quieren probar su suerte ‘ lugar maravilloso para estar en, los precios son bastante razonables dada la calidad que usted está aquí

I have stayed at the hotel over the past 15 years and it has gradually become a little run down here and there but the worst change is the service, nobody has a smile or greets you as a guest, your just another inconvenience for them. I stayed in a ”Deluxe” King room last week and the Bathroom was dirty and the Shower over Bath is a disgrace (see photo). I don't think I'll be staying again until some marked improvements have been made.
