Chateau de La Resle - Design Hotels

This is a beautiful Chateau that is quite remote. There is breakfast available but no dinner. The gate and door are locked at night, and it is no small feat to get with both an electronic gate and old-fashioned keys. The pool is not heated after October 1 although it is a lovely pool. It is quite a long drive to have dinner or even to go to a grocery store.

We stayed at Chateau de la Resle for two nights en route to Italy. It was extremely comfortable. We were in Suite Vezelay and so had the swimming pool right outside our room, which was perfect. We were looked after very well but a group of charming staffs and owners. Breakfast was delicious. The chateau and its grounds are beautiful. We would love to return!

We absolutely loved our stay at the gorgeous Chateau de la Resle. We stayed three nights for our 25th anniversary trip and were so glad we chose this amazing property - the highlight of our trip to Burgundy. We stayed in the Vezelay suite located immediately off the pool. The suite was beautiful and had everything we needed along with luxurious bedding, bath products, and a well-equipped kitchen. Every member of the staff we encountered was incredibly helpful, responding with enthusiasm for our every request. Especially appreciated was the well-stocked honor bar with a broad selection of delicious wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages. Breakfasts were a delightful continental spread with made to order eggs and coffee. Do not miss the Chateau's Art de Table on-site restaurant. Easily one of the best meals of our trip. Perfection. The location is central to so many lovely towns, but also felt like a relaxing retreat. Very convenient to Auxerre, Chablis, and many interesting sites and villages. Also an easy drive from CDG. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to return one day , hopefully soon.

Thank you Johan and Pieter for the fabulous stay at the Chateau de Resle. The house, grounds and of course the pool are unique, beautifully furbished (clearly a life’s passion) with bucket loads of ambience and style. We stayed in the self contained Noyers apartment - fully kitted kitchen, lounge, dining and of course a sumptuous attic bedroom with en suite. Enough space to park the mountain bikes, and store the cases of Chablis. Throughly enjoyed the Saturday and Monday pool side dinners cooked by Johan, and the table banter with Pieter. The salt water lap pool and quiet pool side setting offer a much needed respite, especially if you have cycled to Chablis, walked the river at Arcy and visited the caves, brought honey at Pontigny Abbey, lunched in the medieval town of Noyers or ambled the back streets of Auxerre. You are top quartile hosts Johan and Pieter - nothing is too much trouble (even loaning us martini glasses for a cheeky pre dinner cocktail). Loved the continental style breakfasts, your scrambled and the wonderful warm, fresh bread. The chateau is a must for those passing Chablis - is on our repeat list. As my wife Gloria said at the time, simply spectacular !

We spent a wonderful week at Chateau de la Resle in August. The warmth of the welcome, the uniformly high standard of accommodation, facilities and food, the kindness and cooperation of the owners and staff combined to make our stay a truly memorable, relaxing and totally enjoyable experience. Johan and Pieter have evolved a magical formula for Chateau de la Resle, and we are very grateful to Johan for his unfailing assistance and attention to our needs. All of the staff were very professional and helpful, and Mathilde was especially helpful and considerate. In sum, a wonderful stay and we look forward to visiting Chateu de la Resle again. A wonderful find in the middle of the rolling countryside. Not a conventional hotel, but better for it. Welcoming hosts and a delicious, freshly prepared dinner in the courtyard overlooking the pool. We went on a lovely walk before a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs and fresh pastries. Recommended!

We've recently returned from a wonderful week away in the stunningly beautiful Château de la Resle, near Auxerre. From the moment we approached the Château we knew our stay would be special. Nestled in picturesque countryside, the Château itself is tastefully decorated with objet d'arts and paintings thoughtfully displayed throughout. We stayed in the Ferme - an annexe to the Château - with the pool directly outside. The attention to detail continued in our accommodation - understated and very cool, Breakfast in the Château itself was the perfect start to a day of exploring the local area - great coffee! Dinner, offered Saturday through to Tuesday, was a gastronomic delight. Vegetarians catered for by the talented chef. Perhaps what made our stay particularly memorable was Johan and his team of wonderful staff (not forgetting Monty the cat!) Friendly and helpful, they could not have done more to accommodate our requests. They were the perfect hosts. A special mention to Mathilde, whose service was impeccable. We loved the region - a visit to Dijon, wine tasting at Prehy and a trip to Noyers sur Sereine and Abbaye de Fontenay are a must. Thank you Johan and team for a fabulous holiday. We'll be back!

A beautifully renovated chateau near Chablis; rooms are wonderfully contemporary--bright and cheerful--with every detail well-chosen--but the overall feel is comfortable country charm. A pool and dining room is a recent addtion across the road; the outside lounging area behind the chateau has a walking path with modern sculptures, but not overly manicured. We enjoyed a lovely dinner there one night. The energetic owner, Johan, is warm and welcoming. I accidentally left my cell phone there and they sent it right away (I made sure to pay for the postage), all packaged in a new iPhone box--lovely touch.
