We spent five days in May in the villa and thought it was great. Irabu is a very quiet place compared to miyakojima with mostly small villa resorts. The location of the Ds grow resort is perfect. It is just a five minute walk to toguchi beach either along the shore or the road. I think Toguchihama might be the nicest beach in Okinawa. its a crescent of fine white sand backed by a green jungle and sporting some of the best looking blue water you will ever see. On one end of the beach is the blue turtle cafe, which has good smoothies and kind of expensive lunches. On the other end is a water sports shop where you could rent kayaks or Jet skii. The D’s growth resort is the closest villas to this great beach. The villas are very modern with a Glass, concrete, tile thing going creating a very comfortable space for a couple or a family with two kids. there are two single beds in a separate bedroom and a couple of double beds in the main room. the view of the sea from all the beds is fantastic. The villas are perhaps 3-4 meters from the high tide line. there is a small path down to the beach in front of the villas, though probably not a great place to swim(better to walk to toguchi beach). Out on the deck is a sofa and a couple of lounge chairs around the pool. we ate dinner each night on the sofa with a great view of the sunset over toguchi beach. The pool is small, but not too small. We found our villa to be very private and never heard any road noise or any sign of the other vacationers staying in the next door villas. the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook including salt, pepper, saran wrap, etc. the local super on irabu is kind of basic but we went to shima no eki in miyako city for local fruits and veggies that were pretty cheap for japan. other larger supermarkets are about a 15 minute drive away in Miyako city. If you fly into shimoji airport its just a 10 minute drive to the villa.
