Poco a Poco Hostel

Unfortunately didn’t have a good stay I got BED BUGS from here and there staff where not helpful ! They claimed that I didn’t get it from there however I didn’t have it when I arrived I slept there then had it ! I had to pay to wash all my stuff and they didn’t even change the bed. Very disappointed

Best hostel I've ever stayed at!!! Please stay here if you're coming to Leon and you won't regret it! The rooms are perfect, great value and the whole place has such a chilled vibe with amazing social evenings organised every night! The staff are also so nice and helpful and it's such a clean, spacious and friendly hostel! Didn't want to leave! Will definitely be back.

Sadly I only spend a short amount of time here, but i really liked the hostel. The staff were really friendly and organised lots of events to ensure socialising amongst guests. The space was well used and the hostel was located in a central area, with a common kitchen and a bar. The beds however, we rather uncomfortable but seemed a small price to pay. If you're looking for a social and vibrant hostel this is the place!

Highly recommended!! What a great hostel! Poco a Poco was our first stop in Nicaragua. The staff was really helpful regarding transportation from the airport and booking some awesome trips. Great welcoming, we felt at home right away. Everything is very clean and you can have a good night of sleep! The pool is really nice during the hot hours of the day. The AC also worked great! After a trip to the north of Nica we even went back for a couple of nights. A lot to see in and around Leon! After 3 weeks of travelling we found out that Poco a Poco is a highly rated hostel amongst traveler’s, they deserve it!

This a nice little eco hotel situated within walking distance of central Monte Verde. Pool & hot tub are nice. There’s a swim up bar in the pool area. Good happy hour daily from 3-6 with 20-40% off. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was comfortable, but a bit small. We were offered a chance to move to a larger room on the last night but we were happy enough to stay put. In our room, the only place to hang anything is in the dresser (see photo). The room could benefit from a little updating but the bed was comfortable. Probably due to this being an eco hotel, there wasn’t a fridge in our room. Bathroom was small but everything worked. If you are traveling casually and with a good roommate, it’s fine. If elbow room and views are important, be sure to discuss this ahead of time. There appear to be very different options. At the restaurant, we enjoyed a sax player one evening, beautiful decor (musical instruments) and a reasonably varied set of food choices. They accommodated special requests. One of the nicest delights is the private garden and forest walking trail . Take a good book and relax in the Costa Rican Forest a 100 meters from your door! There are several benches and tables. We took the Don Juan coffee, sugar & chocolate tour. It was very interesting to learn how everything is processed. We met the owner! We took the night walking tour in Wildlife Refuge Monteverde. Oscar was our guide and he was great. I would recommend it. It was about 3 hours long walking through the forest. Wear long pants, shirt, rain coat & closed toed shoes. It rained on and off, not torrential, just nice soft easy rain. If you are traveling from La Fortuna and Arenal, be prepared for 3.5 hours of narrow, winding roads, steep hills and lots of ruts and stones.

It’s very windy in Monteverde. The drive from La Fortuna to Monteverde was horrendous. Very curvy, narrow & bumpy roads. The room we had was very small. The only place to hang anything is in the dresser so it’s short (see photo). The room needs updating. Bed is pretty comfortable. No fridge in our room. Bathroom is very small too. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL! RUDE OWNER, RUBBISH FACILITIES AND FALSELY ADVERTISED. I have never met a more rude owner in my entire life. We booked a room via *********** which included air-conditioning. When we arrived we were told that we would have to pay an extra $10 for air-conditioning even though there was nothing stating this on the booking and it stated that A/C was included on our booking confirmation. We showed this to the owner and he told us that it was ***********’s fault and that they have this issue all the time. Well if they have this issue repeatedly, why are they still using *********** and passing the blame to them? Take some responsibility and do something about it. He was very rude and spoke to us disgustingly, offering no solution. After shouting at us, he eventually told us told us to leave and that we wouldn’t find a better place. Every hostel we have seen in Leon is 10x better than this one for the price. The hostel doesn’t even have a swimming pool. No wonder the hostel was empty when we got there. With such a rude owner, poor customer service, poor facilities and paying a ridiculous price for air con when it says it is included, I am sure the hostel will go out of business very soon! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! You can EASILY find somewhere much nicer and better quality for money with better staff! (Examples: the spot hostel, lazy bones).
