Hotel Almhof

Just returned from a fabulous family ski trip with my wife and 5 year old daughter and we loved this hotel. Booked as a package through Crystal ski as what appealed was a smaller, family friendly resort with ski in/out accommodation. The Almhof didn’t disappoint and the staff, room, food was all excellent. In particular the breakfast buffet and evening meal was outstanding, with incredible choice for breakfast and a 4 course meal each evening which was fine dining (children’s menu each night kept our daughter happy). The staff were all excellent and worked extremely hard in both the restaurant and onsite bar which opens right on to the slopes. Very few Brits here as the clientele is Austrian and German and knowing a little German will help. Ski lifts and ski school right on the doorstep so no ski buses required which was a real bonus. Wouldn’t hesitate to return here!

Lovely hotel. Very large. Would have loved to stay in the bar drinking after dinner but it was like sitting in a nuclear reactor it was so hot. I’m sure many more people would stay if it wasn’t so hot. Ideal location on the slopes Will stay again.

Called in for late lunch in downstairs restaurant just off piste. Given English menu. My wife wanted the Leberknodel soup.....this was wrongly advertised and came as Kaseknodel soup....I asked for cheese tomato toasty. Came cold with little filling. Soup spoon taken from "clean cutlery" basket. It was FILTHY with old hard food attached. Waiter simply did not care. This is a HUBER group hotel which have a monopoly of many hotels in Galtür....Avoid Huber at all costs........Almhof/Wirlerhof/Rössle and others part of group.

We loved everything about this lovely hotel. The staff were so pleasant and friendly with simple Austrian costumes. The food was so so good in every respect - high quality and delicious. The room was well equipped. The spa facilities were numerous and varied. The pool was a great size for swimming with a lovely hot tub. Ski in and ski out with a large ski room and heated boot supports. Lift adjacent with lift pass office and ski hire shop a few steps away. Ski bus goes down the road to the main part of Galtür. We want to return to this hotel. Excellent

We were due to travel to hotel Rossle in Galtur with crystal ski , three days before we flew out received a call saying our hotel was overbooked and were offered the Almhof as a replacement instead. Crystal ski assured us it was actually an upgrade on the Rossle and was a ski in ski out hotel with even better facilities and cuisine. We decided to accept and how glad we are that we did ! The hotel was beautiful , large spotless rooms overlooking the mountains , comfy beds and amazing en-suite shower rooms. The reception staff were friendly and helpful as well as efficient and nothing was too much trouble. the hotel is a mix of old charm and stylish modern décor and it works really well. The pool and spa were amazing the best we had seen in Austria, the hot tub was also very nice after a days skiing. The food is a mix of fine dining and buffet food which was delicious ,so fresh and prepared with expertise most chefs would be proud of. The breakfast buffet was also done to a very high standard with a huge selection of hot and cold food. The very best thing about the hotel were its staff! they were superb, this place gets busy at lunch times and the panorama restaurant gets packed with skiers and the staff have to work extremely hard to cope and then most of them still have to serve dinner in the evening after already doing a hard days work. I would like to give a mention to Peter, Brigitta, Lisa and the little Russian guy who I think was called Balasz? you were all fantastic and made us feel so very welcome , there were others but these are the ones I can remember. To sum up I would like to thank everybody involved with this hotel for making our stay feel so very special and also crystal ski for putting us here when our original choice was not available, hopefully we are coming back in summer to enjoy the hotel and the mountains again.

Lovely smart but friendly hotel in Galtur. Staff were lovely. Food was amazing prob best i have ever seen in a hotel, perfect. Plenty choices for breakfast, nice little bar area too for evenings. (bar about 5 euro a pint) Had a few meals in day in the restaurant next to slopes too, again excellent. Rooms lovely nice views, (i had a single it was fine) modern, quiet and warm. Took a travel kettle for room, and firestick for tv as no British channels. Hotel spa nice pool and hot tub but downstairs area with relaxation area, steam rooms and sauna's was no clothing allowed not even swim wear .........so i gave it a miss, very odd ! Ski area and Galtur a gem, good snow, very quiet, big enough area for a days ski, hotel is set right on main slopes, nice and easy. Bit of a 10 min trek to get up and down to bus stop for Ischgl, (regular and on time) but again great ski area worth the trek, varied and quite a big area, Smugglers run was fun.... bus is about 15 mins, easy really, just the walk up to the hotel on return the only hard bit after a days ski ing ! Another hidden gem i found was Kappl, (inc on lift pass) 30 mins down valley on same free buses, easy trip, well worth a day there, piste's empty, runs to yourself, good snow, enough for a days ski, very pretty place. Overall superb, glad i picked Galtur over Ischgl, as i wanted a quiet base and Galtur and Hotel Almhof perfect. Top tips, if you get back from Ischgl a bit earlier, you can get the ski school travelator up the slope half way to the hotel ! (closes around 4.30 to 5pm i think, ask when you pass on way down best) Don't miss out Galtur's ski area or Kappl, as both great, i spent two of my 6 days there, lovely views and quiet runs. (no lift queues) ENJOY !!!!! Mid March ski trip.

We stayed at the hotel during our summer tourist vacation. Cozy and clean room, varied breakfast buffet and excellent dinner. A nice relaxation area with pool and jacuzzi. Nice and helpful staff, so a great overall impression. We were very satisfied and can warmly recommend it.

We visited last week, myself, son and granddaughter, after my son and I visited in 2014. Back then, we had a lovely stay. I have emailed the manager since we got home a couple of days ago with some serious concerns. I’ve yet to hear back from the man. I only usually post on trip advisor with positive thoughts. Anything negative, I prefer to offer the establishment a chance to react first. I have been ignored by this hotel and the manager has not responded to me…. That tells you all you need to know…

We had lunch and diner at Almhof hotel 3 times this week. The (Hungarian) waiters are rude - they ignore people, are impatient and are aggressive towards customers. Many people we met shared the same negative experiences.
