Apartamentos da Sé Catedral

The apartment itself is a small, basic, clean one bedroom apartment.  It is quite a dark apartment as it is in a side street which doesn’t get any sun, so we had to have the lights on during the day and evening.  The kitchen is equipped with adequate crockery and cutlery and the bathroom has a good shower in it (although no toiletries).   The reason I have only given it one star is because it was not as advertised on Booking.com.  I booked this apartment as we needed two separate sleeping areas and this was advertised as having one bedroom and one sofa bed in the lounge.  When we went to open up the sofa bed on the first night, we realised it was in fact only a sofa, not a sofa bed, so for the first night I had to sleep squashed up on a small two seater sofa - not quite how I imagined my first night !     In the morning I messaged the owners and they did admit that it was entirely their mistake and offered us their only other available property, which was a studio consisting of one room.  They agreed that this would not rectify the problem as we needed two separate sleeping areas, so they offered us a fold up camp bed to put in the lounge.  As this was our only option, we said we would try it.     After a few nights of sleeping on the fold up bed, which was more suitable for a child/teenager, not a 60 year old, we decided that it just wasn’t working out as I was suffering from quite bad back problems and not sleeping properly.  This was ruining our holiday.  We decided to find alternative accommodation ourselves with two separate sleeping areas.  We checked out of the apartment earlier than we had booked, and on handing the keys back to the owners, we explained why we had to vacate the apartment early.  We asked if we would be able to get some sort of refund and were told this would be up to the owner Theresa. On returning home we asked about a refund and were told that we would not receive any refund or compensation even though the fault lay directly with the owners.  We specifically booked this apartment as we needed a sofa bed in the lounge and would not have booked it if we had known that it was only a sofa.  I feel very let down by the attitude of the owner and will certainly not be recommending their apartment.     I understand they have now changed their description of the apartment so that it does not include a "sofa bed".

2 nuitées réservées 2 mois à l’avance via booking et annulation par l’établissement… la veille??! Explication: overbooking. Du jamais vu. Nous avons du nous débrouiller pour nous reloger en dernière minute et en haute saison. Absolument non professionnel

Os donos expulsaram a minha familia dos quartos as 11 da noite apenas porque pediram lençois extra. Bateram a porta, e quando abriram entraram ao pontape pelo apartamento a dentro e expulsaram toda a gente. Quando pessoas ja estavam a dormir. RIDICULO! Pessoas malucas da cabeça, espero que mais ninguem marque aqui

Sans hésitation, si vous souhaitez vous rendre dans le centre historique de Funchal (et visiter ensuite toute la ville), c'est l'endroit idéal pour loger. Nous avons réservé un appartement 2 chambres, avec deux salles de bain, et tout y est propre, bien pensé.
