Hoyo Hoyo Safari Lodge

A unique five star accommodation with history, your own cottage complete with plunge pool and an outdoor day bed overlooking the riverbed where elephants saunter by and your room is filled with charming antiques and a modern bathroom! Staff are charming, food is delightful. The game drives on this private concession are incredible!! We were less than 10 feet from a male lion, saw a mother leopard feeding her cubs in a tree, rhino, elephants, lions, painted dogs, hyena, buffalo, rhinos, hippos, kudu…and so much more! For a trip of a lifetime you need to stay somewhere special and this is it. I will definitely be back!

Where do we begin describing our stay at Jock Safari Lodge? From the moment we arrived at Skukuza airport and saw Lazarus’s huge smile greeting us to the moment Patrick took us back 5 days later, we lived in a dream world. Jock Safari Lodge is a concession within the Kruger which means you get exclusive access to a large area that surrounds the lodge. This means you are often the only vehicle in the area. We occasionally saw another Jock wagon if there was a good opportunity to see animals or if we had to transit on a larger road. You will certainly see the big five but you’ll see and experience so much more. The game drives were absolutely the highlight of our stay. The Lodge is beautiful, and small enough to have a very ‘family’ vibe. The rooms are very comfortable, exceptionally clean and well appointed. Each room has its own very private outside space with a plunge pool, outside bedroom, bath and shower. The food is superb and rest assured you will never go hungry at Jock with no less than 8 opportunities a day to eat! The staff are without exception wonderful. Warm, welcoming and incredibly hospitable, thank you Precious, Khaya and all the team for looking after us so well. Finally, Lazarus, the Head Ranger is exceptional. His warmth, humour, unbridled passion and vast knowledge of the flora and fauna that live in his ‘office’ is infectious. Thank you Lazarus for sharing the very special world you live in; it was one of the best experiences of our lives. We planned for this to be the trip of a lifetime and it exceeded that billing. We wouldn’t change a thing and would wholeheartedly recommend Jock Safari Lodge to anybody who wants a magical and unforgettable safari experience in the Kruger.
