Well maintained property with an Indonesian theme. Very nice and comfortable beds. Convenient location to shops and restaurants in Carmel.

Fabulous hotel. Staff is friendly and professional. People working hard to keep property in pristine condition. Breakfast is top notch. Could not be happier with our stay

The location is good. The room had an unpleasant odor that the staff said came from Stained furniture. The place was clean - cleaning staff came a bit early in the morning, opening the door without knocking. The room configuration was also off as we had little closet space - neither bag fit into the closet. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Staff was perfect balance of friendly and professional. Have stayed in a half dozen hotels in the area in past few months. Tradewinds is by far my favorite!

I stayed at the Tradewinds in Carmel while on a road trip up the California Coast. Carmel is a beautiful, small town and is known to be very expensive so this hotel was priced well for the area and the type of property. PROS: The hotel is small but really nice and well-kept. It has a bed & breakfast feel. The rooms are a bit small, but good for two people. The bathrooms are nice and very clean. At night you have to make your breakfast selection on a piece of paper the staff leaves in your room and the next morning the staff brings it to your door. It was a good amount of food and they had healthy options. CONS: The parking lot is free, but it’s small and fills up quickly. We had to park on the street one night. It’s also very dark outside and isn’t walking distance to anything. It’s up on a hill too so you definitely need a car to get around (as in most of California). The hotel is a bit hard to find at first as well. OVERALL: If you have a car, this is a great hotel to stay in while visiting Carmel. You get the small town vibe and it is a short drive to the main streets and the beach. I would stay here again while visiting the area.

Nice, little hotel with a great view of the ocean. Third floor was pretty warm without ac on a 75 degree sunny day. The fan provided helped but it was stuffy. Also the shower didn’t drain and the water pooled at the bottom. A nice hotel but some interior updates would be great.

Our room was large, clean and very nicely and recently decorated. The grounds were very pretty and there was also a lovely view. The only negatives were the lack of outlets close by the bed for our electronic devices. It is also a 10 minute walk over uneven pavement from downtown (which is very dark at night)-so would be an issue for those with mobility problems.
