This well appointed cottage is a new build in the style of the original 1890s Four Square house sharing the property and is four blocks to the Town Square and Courthouse. The original house has been placed on the historic register and lays within the East Prescott Historic District. The bricks are the original chimney bricks from the fireplaces and wainscoting on the walls have the original paint. The hall light fixture is original to the house and the bathroom light fixtures are from a 1800 cattle ranch in Australia. The pictures are 1960’s original watercolors of the Prescott and Arizona landscape. The cottage suite has a private entrance, a small covered patio shared with a old wood-burning cookstoves, and a welcoming purple door. The raised deck, bbq and fire pit belong to the main house. The courthouse square is a short walk and a great place to enjoy the beautiful courthouse and tall elms trees. Maybe enjoy an ice cream or a drink from the Palace balcony. There are art and craft fairs, parades, car shows, the famous Fourth of July Rodeo which boasts the oldest rodeo in the USA. A famous Halloween where they close Mount Vernon Street and young and old come in costumes to trick-or-treat! Christmas tree lighting in the park square and a famous boot drop on New Year’s Eve. Great hiking and three lakes to choose from. The beautiful tall elms and many Victorian homes dating to the 1880s. Three close wineries, whiskey tasting, mead tasting and a variety of pubs. Down the alley is Berry’s Pie shop where you can order a hot pie. The HOMESTEAD is a 2,000 sqft historic home (built in the 1890's) that has undergone a complete renovation. Located in an established neighborhood, the HOMESTEAD is central to downtown (approx. 1.5 mile), shopping, the hospital, Farmer's Market, etc.This home was orginally a Methodist parsonage located on the hill near Gurley Street and Grove Avenue. My father purchased the home in the early 1960's and moved it to the lot it now resides. We found newspapers in the walls dating back to 1898!The spaceMy grandparents (with their 10 children) bought a large plot of land in Prescott in the 1930's, built a home and planted an orchard with apple and pear trees. This home sits in the orchard surrounded by fruit trees. My father purchased a lot on the south end of the orchard and moved a house built in the 1890's to this lot in the early 1960's. It's been completely renovated with new flooring, kitchen, bathrooms, doors, HVAC system, furniture and so much more!The home is in a open area surrounded by fruit trees. In the fall and throughout other times of year, you may find deer, racoons and javelina that have found their way into the orchard to enjoy the apples that have fallen on the ground.Guest accessThe entire house is for your use (with the exception of a half basement that is not habitable and is locked off from the rest of the house). There are two doors to the home, with an electronic lock on both doors and a code will be sent for entry shortly before your stay. For those staying longer than a few days, a key can be made available for your use as well.There is covered parking in the back of the house (off of Bird street) as well as parking on the street in front of the house.Other things to noteLocation! We do have one spot reserved for our detached casita. We rent that separately or can rent as extra space for you if it is available. It is a one bedroom, bathroom. Walk in shower. Has smart tv, electric fireplace, desk work space and a cozy couch area.There are stairs up to front door or you can access the porch side by walking up a steep drive with a side rail.We have an enclosed gated off area for dogs by the side of house. Pool table, shuffle board and darts. Please do not open any of these windows.
