This guesthouse is superbly located with a view on the bay; very tranquil. The exterior looks like an old villa, perfectly maintained; the interior is the surprise: fully cladded in French antique panelling and furniture. The hostess was lovely and helpful in suggesting restaurants, sightseeing tips and things to do. The breakfast is adequate, even without a hot part.

Good: Good location 0.5 miles from the centre of town. Parking spaces. Easy access to the beach. We had the pink room which looks over Marengo Bay and has a verandah. Room is good, comfortable bed, good shower. Friendly hosts and good cold breakfast with toast available. Got a bit of a shock when it started raining in the middle of the night but soon realised it was the rain on the flat roof. Sockets by the bed. Not so good: Wi-Fi kept dropping out. Small tv in sitting room but not in bedroom.

The room was very small, with very stained carpet. Clean except behind the nightstand (necessary to go there for an outlet). The bathroom—tiny!! Breakfast was mediocre, lacking variety & protein. Coffee was great. Host was charming. View was great.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of February. We enjoyed it very much the only problem we had was the weather the second day but that is outside the control of the host but he had the rest perfectly under control. The guesthouse itself is wonderfull. You have a private space that consists of a bedroom and ensuite bathroom (with toilet). This space is not large enough to live in but there is a wonderful large living room that you share with to other guests. All the rooms are immaculate clean. In the shared living room are complementary chocolates and port (tawny) that you can use. We used it both nights and the used glasses were already been taken care of the next morning. The host is really friendly, We loved talking with him and it was always a pleasure to meet him. In the morning he prepares your breakfast. The breakfast is really good with lovely homemade muffins.

Perfect in every way. only three bedrooms so everyone got lots of attention from the manager. Beautiful, beautiful views of the ocean. Haven’t seen port in the lounge for an awful long time.Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and was sent away with gorgeous muffins for our coffee break.

Apollo Bay Guest House began life as a folly. Let me explain. A folly is an extravagant building in this case built to be a guest house. In English, the term folly began as "a popular name for any costly structure built to indulge a wealthy individual's hobby or passion in architecture In this case, a wealthy Victorian antique dealer who began importing bits of randomly acquired building components to Apollo Bay around 2008 and said to ta builder, “It’s a jigsaw puzzle, build me a grand mansion.” What you have is his Folly and what is now the Apollo Bay Guest House. It proved to be a costly business and apparently, the antique dealer’s pockets were not deep enough. All previous reviews remark how beautiful the house is. The antique dealer paid great attention to detail. Most reviewers spent one night here so they didn't sit around in the beautiful living rooms or swan around the fountain, which is what you’re paying $350 a night for. The breakfast room, where they would have spent most of their time, is beautiful. A comparison may help put the Apollo Guest Appar**ents in context. The Guesthouse ($350 a night) and the next most expensive place in Apollo Bay (we have stayed both now) are by far the most expensive accommodation in Apollo Bay by nearly $100 a night. They are very different in style, but my estimation is that they offer relatively equal value. The Apollo Bay Guest House has loads of French style, a porch with stunning views of the ocean where guests can gather for drinks to watch the sun go down and a continental breakfast while the other has a much larger kitchen, more beds, a bigger TV, more living space and a private outside deck. But no breakfast. Judging from the previous reviews the breakfasts have probably declined just a little over time. The breakfast room, where the continental breakfast is served is beautiful The muffins have disappeared as has the option of cooked breakfast. In fairness, it's not offered when you make a booking. But when you're staying five nights, the continental breakfast which includes some pretty ordinary toast can get a bit monotonous. And so to the touchstone of any review: the bathroom. This place works pretty well with limited resources. The bathroom is small by any standard, but surprisingly there are plenty of flat spaces around the handbasin under the mirror and in the drawers in the marble washstand under the mirror. There are also hooks on the door to hang things on. We didn't ask for a walk-in shower. He should have because they are available. The shower over the bath makes life pretty difficult for somebody with two knee replacements as the bath seems to have exceptionally high sides and has no rails can hold onto while you get in and it's pretty cramped when you get in. Other than that, the bathroom works pretty well, particularly in its size. The bed is a queen size, which is all would really fit in this particular bedroom. We stayed four nights. From the moment my sister and I stepped into the courtyard of this guest house we sighed in relief of the tranquility, and beauty of the place and it's spectacular location!! My sister chose a gem of a place!! We were greeted by our host, Christine who was superb from the beginning to end!! Rooms are furnished in exquisite French furniture, beautiful linen, and attention to detail adds to the experience and is a feast for the eyes. We stayed in the suite with ocean view, 2 separate bedrooms, 1 with a view of the southern ocean!! So beautiful. As suggested by Christine, we sat on the verandah with ocean views, and watched the sunset over the Otway's with a glass of wine!! Breakfast was delicious and served to us in the dining room. What a treat!! There is a sitting room full of wonderful books, comfortable furniture, and views of the ocean. Another spot to enjoy a glass of wine!! Easy walking distance from everything!! Nous y sommes restés 3 nuits Très bon accueil et très bon emplacement on peux aller dîner en ville à pied . La décoration de la maison est un peu surprenante mais c est bien décrit sur leur site donc pas de mauvaise surprise …mais cela n a rien de français 😉 Stuart accueille très bien les hotes . Propreté irréprochable chambres faites tous les jours . Le petit déjeuner est un peu décevant sans produit organic avec des jus de fruits trop industriel pour être consommés Avec le genre de la maison on s attends à un petit déjeuner parfait mais rien de bien grave
