Durty Nelly's Inn

Super great hostel! Loved it very much. The location of the hostel is really convenient and you could basically go to major attractions in Amsterdam by walking for a few minutes like the ******************, the Dam square and more importantly the Central station. Though it is a large room that has quite a number of residents, everyone respected each other’s privacy and they did not make loud noises. The receptionists were super nice and helpful and they spoke good English. I would definitely recommend this place to y’all.

I can't lie. Brill location, super central. HOWEVER! That's where the good ends and the madness begins... (Copy and pasted from my removed review on trip advisor 😕) don't let them silence being outted for their incredibly dodgy behaviour... Durty Nellys 1,547 reviews 1 ★ 🚫 AVOID, the security will give the master key to their friends to let them into Ur room to 'clean' at 3am. Tried to tell me it was normal for this to happen in hostels, I've stayed all over Amsterdam and even other hostels in other parts of the world... They don't clean when you're asleep, don't let them convince you this is normal, I should have called the police but didn't want to ruins my friends holiday. Also, I was threatened with being kicked out and having the Dutch police called on me because I got angry at the security for giving the "cleaner" a key to our room for him to come in, clean nothing and then leave. The old security guy was actually asleep at his desk watching YouTube videos when I did go down to question him in anger. So please be warned. They're running an unusual game at Durty Nelly's, don't trust them, even the seemingly nice owner tried to convince me in the morning that I was in the wrong for questioning why there was a man in my room at 3:37am. Tbh they're probably all in on it and split the profit. So if you're reading this and are considering staying here please don't you'll likely regret it. and if you're reading this and you work at Durty Nelly's, you should be ashamed of yourself for letting this happen... EDIT: They do NOT want you to see this... they flagged and removed this review because of 'profanity' yet I didn't swear once. EDIT edit: it was removed for a third time... Gunna use chatgpt to keep rewriting this until Google /duttynellys accepts. EDIT (After their reply): Funny how you weren't willing to discuss it with me in person but now months and months later you're completely available to talk about how insane your cleaning schedule is... And it's also funny how in your own words, for a 2nd time now "Race and discrimination" is being mentioned. I didn't mention once about the dudes race, and I obviously wouldn't give a damn about where he's from... He shouldn't be in my room whilst my friends are sleeping at 3:30am, that IS irregular. And to claim that's how hostels do it is just a straight out lie. You're so obviously just liers trying to cover yourselves because you clearly profit off of the things your staff steal for you. It's honestly so telling that you mentioned any of that, trying to make me look like a racist or something, it's actually laughable. The old man head of security tried to do exactly the same thing when I went downstairs at roughly 4:00am unable to sleep asking: "Why would you give ANYONE the master security key card at 3:30am?" It was one of the initial reasons for my suspicion that this happens regularly and that I wasn't the first to come to you with my concerns... Please PLEASE reply again with some more non

The friendliest staff I've seen! They will be sure to give their best to help you and improve your experience. Everything is clean and works well. I stayed in the capsule bunk, which provides a good level of privacy. The AC worked even a little too well for me, since the room got pretty cold in the evening, but for most people I think the temperature would be perfect. The street sounds could not be heard at all, and the sounds in the room depend on the other guests, of course. There is no lounge room, but the hotel location is truly excellent. The one criticism I have is that the light in the room (which turns on as soon as any movement is detected) does show quite well through the bunk curtain, so I'd suggest bringing a sleeping mask.

The location is central and it’s a tall, very narrow building with no elevator. The stairs are very steep so if you have a suitcase, do not book here. It won’t fit. There is an age limit of 40. I had prepaid and wasn’t aware of this, so they let me stay, but I did meet others who were not allowed to stay. I booked a capsule bunk in a mixed dorm, and it was well worth the extra cost. The AC in the room worked well. The capsules are very private, well built, quiet, and comfortable. Lower bunks have a cage locker under the bunk. Upper bunks have lockers in the rooms. Regular dorm rooms had their lockers outside of the rooms in the hallways. The hostel itself doesn’t have a lounge area, but it is clean, and the staff are friendly. The showers never ran out of hot water but lack water pressure and had water conserving taps, so you had to push the button every few seconds to keep the water on. The Wi-Fi was weak in the rooms but very strong on the main floor. I didn’t hang out in the bar or try the food so can’t comment on either.

The staff are very welcoming, approachable, helpful and kind. Live music in the Irish bar was brilliant! The capsule beds provide a nice level of privacy compared to other hostels. There was also plenty of storage space to fit my suitcase and the communal areas were kept very clean and tidy. Durty Nelly's is also in a very central location, 5 minutes away from everything. Also, shout-out to the staff in Spar across the street who prepared breakfast each morning!

Lovely hostel. The rooms are very cosy, I loved the capsule beds. They were so comfy and made you feel really secure and like you've got plenty of privacy. Also, there was a plug socket and USB ports and a personal light which was very handy. I was on the bottom bed so I had the under bed storage which was perfect to store my suitcase and valuables. The hostel is in an amazing location! Walking distance of loads of attractions and the tram/bus stops are super close. The staff were really nice and helpful. The facilities were lovely and the bathrooms were really nice and clean. I loved the showers and there is a hair dryer in the bathroom which is a big plus. My only complaint is that there's no kitchen or food storage area, which means you have to buy all your meals out and made the trip a bit more expensive- however, this is a small price to pay for such a lovely hostel, and there are loads of options for buying food on the hostel street!

I had a great time visiting Amsterdam and staying here. I came for business and was alone but found friends every night in the bar down stairs and had great conversations with the reception staff, Orlando was particularly entertaining. Sleeping in a tube was surprisingly comfortable and private and all the facilities where clean and tidy. Genuinely great experience staying here. I’ll be back for sure! Highly recommend
