Mi estancia en el Hotel Kamenoi Kusatsu fue excelente. El onsen estaba muy limpio y era bastante espacioso, lo que lo convirtió en una experiencia relajante. El hotel también cuenta con un práctico atajo que lleva directamente a la zona peatonal de Yubatake, lo cual es una gran ventaja. Tanto el desayuno como la cena fueron tipo buffet con una amplia variedad de platos: muchas opciones y todos muy agradables. El servicio fue excelente y la habitación era cómoda para dormir. El único inconveniente es que había muy pocos enchufes en la habitación, pero no fue un problema grave. En resumen, una estancia fantástica y muy recomendable para cualquiera que visite Kusatsu.

Stayed for 2 nights in early Dec 2024. Booked the mountain view twin room with cypress bath which comes with both dinner and breakfast. The ryokan styled hotel is located diagonally opposite from the shibukawa bus stop and about 5 mins walk (turn right from the hotel) to the Ikaho stone steps around the mid section of the steps. The hotel is old ryokan style but well maintained and does not see much wear and tear. The lobby which is on the 3rd floor (ground level) is big. No shoes allowed in the hotel, guests have to deposit their shoes at the entrance. Staff were all friendly and polite though not all can speak well in English. They do go much more to make you feel at home. Yutaka is provided at the lobby. My room which is located on the 4th floor corner is considered big. Old styled ryokan kind of design but with western bed. Though the room is laid with tatami on the floor but can still hear people walking if they area heavy or run. Corridor noise does filter in as well but muffled. Unblocked view of the mountain as the hotel sits on an elevated hill. I would recommend to stay with mountain view. The cypress bath can fit 2 person but takes a while to fill, I rather go to the public onsen. Besides the usual amenities, they even provide face wash, face moisturiser, etc in the room. Safe box is provided in the room as well. Wifi seems weak. No place in the bathroom however to hang your clothes or towel. There is an indoor onsen on the first floor and an outdoor one on the 8th floor. The onsen are gender separated. They rotate the male and female onsen on the first floor though both has the same look and facilities. The onsen on the 8th floor has a nice view of the city but no shower facilities. There is a massage chair on the first floor as well. Breakfast and dinner are served on the 2nd floor. I would not say that this is the best, but definitely delicious and sufficient. Check in at 3 pm and check out at 10am which I find a bit too early. Hope they can consider to extend. Overall I would recommend this place to stay if you are coming to ikaho.

Nos quedamos en Naraya Ryokan como familia de cuatro por dos noches y tres días, y la experiencia superó nuestras expectativas desde el momento en que llegamos. Nos saludaron inmediatamente después de la entrada y el personal tomó tiempo para explicar claramente las instalaciones, las comidas y el calendario, haciendo todo el proceso suave y bienvenido. La gente se ha comunicado personalmente con el personal japonés, lo que ha hecho las interacciones especialmente insoportables, y también ha observado que el personal está haciendo esfuerzos genuinos para ayudar a otros huéspedes en inglés. Aunque el inglés no es su primera lengua, su disposición a acomodar y asegurarse de que los huéspedes se sienten cómodos fue evidente y apreciada. El ryokan es un lugar de la cafetería, un lugar de relajación excelente. Su toma de afogado es especialmente memorable y vale la pena intentar. La cena en Naraya Ryokan es una experiencia tradicional de menú que muestra la cocina japonesa estacional. Cada comida se sentía cuidadosamente preparada y añadió profundidad a la experiencia de ryokan en general. La habitación está en el centro de la ciudad, y la habitación está en el centro de la ciudad.

New hotel but upkeep not good . Onsen is excellent and restaurant dinner and breakfast is good . The major and most cannot accept part is my room heat system doesn’t work . The hotel only provides two small heater in the room. I am paying $100,000 yen for a private onsen room and outside tempos -9 degrees at night . You told me the heat doesn’t work , that’s a joke .

La ubicación geográfica excelente está justo en frente de Yubatake. La ducha, el baño y la cara de la habitación son muy pequeños porque son muy viejos, pero la cena de bife y la ama de la cama son deliciosos. No sé cuándo el estacionamiento tiene el último autobús, así que llegué después de que llegara el último vuelo, pero recibí un vuelo especial y lo cargaré seguro en el hotel. La próxima vez que quiero ir a pasear en el paseo, así que puedo llegar más temprano.

Room & vibes Stayed in a traditional tatami room and it was so Japanese in the best way – futon, tatami smell, the whole ryokan fantasy. Super cosy, perfect if you’re here to soak, chill, and live your best onsen‑town main‑character life. Buildings & facilities Hotel has three blocks, all connected via the main building, so you’ll always pass through it anyway. Most of the good stuff – hot springs, buffet etc. – is in the Annex building where I stayed, so it was really convenient, just no Yubatake view (that’s only for the main building rooms). Location & mini shopping zone They literally have their own shopping area on the first floor of the main building, right by Yubatake and the hot spring street, so you can roll out of the hotel in yukata and start browsing. Super easy to snack, shop, then hop back into the onsen without feeling like you “went out”. Transport & walking in snow There’s a shuttle bus to the nearest public transport stop, so luggage days are easy. You can walk it in under 10 minutes, but in snow season the road gets icy and crazy slippery, so honestly not recommended unless you trust your shoes (and your balance). Staff & service energy Hotel staff are amazing – super friendly and actually proactive. Besides Japanese and English, some staff speak Mandarin and will just switch to it to help you out, and they’ll even offer to take photos for you before you have the chance to ask, which is perfect for solo or shy travellers.

We had an amazing and relaxing stay! We truly loved it and had a wonderful night surrounded by serene nature. The view was absolutely beautiful — the lake is just right in front of the hotel! The place is spotless and very well maintained. But what truly made our stay special was the incredible staff. A big shoutout to Mr. Ozu, the General Manager, for going the extra mile with his thoughtfulness! When he learned that we were heading to the ropeway the next day (and that there were no bus trips on weekdays), he kindly offered us a ride. He was also genuinely concerned about our hike and overall safety — so heartwarming! Since we didn’t get the dinner package and there was only one restaurant nearby that closed at 4 p.m., we decided to get a takeout for dinner. My friend also asked if there was a nearby café to buy a cake for my birthday, but there wasn’t any. Later that evening, after we came back from the onsen, someone knocked on our door and surprised us with a complimentary cake! They said it was because we didn’t have dinner and they wanted to celebrate my birthday. Awwww! Such a thoughtful and sweet gesture! 🎂💖 In the morning, Mr. Ozu even gave us taxi numbers and the bus schedule for Yumoto Onsen, making sure our travel plans went smoothly. Truly amazing hospitality — we felt so cared for and appreciated throughout our stay! 🌿✨

El personal de recogida es amable y hay un coche para recogerlo en el hotel. A los viajeros no se les permite llevar su calzado directamente a la habitación. Sólo pueden cambiarse las zapatillas en la entrada del hotel para mantener el ambiente limpio. El ambiente de viaje es cómodo. La habitación da al bosque. Hay aguas termales para hombres y mujeres, o puedes sumergirte en una fuente termal privada por tu cuenta. ¡Es muy cómodo!

Parece ser uno de los ocho hoteles de aguas termales más grandes de Asia. Las instalaciones son, por supuesto, de primera clase. La atención de los diseñadores y propietarios se nota en cada detalle, haciendo que los huéspedes se sientan relajados y cómodos. Los tres baños públicos cuentan con baños interiores y al aire libre, y se proporcionan mascarillas de sake y diversas cremas hidratantes de forma gratuita. Para un hotel de aguas termales de este nivel, los camareros fueron, por supuesto, amables, especialmente el hermano que se encargó de recogerme en la estación. La única señorita extranjera que se encargó de recibirme al principio también fue muy linda. Lo único malo es que la comida es abundante pero realmente no es sabrosa. No soy muy exigente con la comida, pero no puedo terminar el desayuno ni la cena.
