Disfrutar de un baño al aire libre prácticamente solo por la mañana, con las montañas a la vista y el vapor que se eleva, es una experiencia indescriptible... ^_^ El desayuno ofrece una excelente relación calidad-precio, con una gran variedad de platos, incluyendo algunas especialidades locales como los bollos de carne de Hida Takayama. Ambiente: Tanto la estación como las atracciones turísticas están a poca distancia a pie, lo cual es muy conveniente.

En realidad, no hay muchas cadenas de hoteles para elegir en la ciudad de Gaoshan. Este es relativamente nuevo. Este hotel está situado junto a la estación de Takayama, a unos 2 kilómetros de Takahashi Old Street y Jinya, y se puede llegar a pie si das un paseo por la ciudad. Hay muchos restaurantes y tiendas alrededor, lo cual es bastante conveniente. Nos alojamos dos noches durante el Festival de Primavera. May 15-16, 2024 From the moment we saw photos of this special place on the internet, we knew we had to stay here! The natural rock onsen baths caught our imagination - and our stay was wonderful beyond expectations! The resort is located in a forested valley is stunning, next to a rushing river. Natural mountain hot spring water is channeled into 7 lovely outdoor onsen baths, as well as ensuite baths. The facility is beautifully designed with gardens and multi-level suites, with each of the levels looking out to the river, with plenty of seating to enjoy the relaxing and lovely views. We were treated with limitless thoughtful hospitality from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left - in fact, one of our group kept commenting ”the y[the staff] must think we're really special!”. The suite was beautifully appointed with tatami mats, traditional Japanese decor, comfortable beds, yukata and slippers are provided along with tabi socks and plenty of clean linens. Our suite had its own private onsen bath encircled by natural stones, and constantly running hot spring water. Such a contrast to water-parched California and even Hawaii where we're from! The outdoor onsens are open all night, for viewing of the starry night sky. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional, with many many delicious small plates, each exquisitely prepared and presented - a petite, freshly caught local fish was skewered as if swimming and roasted in a salt shell. Utterly delicious! In the morning, after a similarly wonderful breakfast, we experienced a mochi-pounding session with the hotel staff and guests joining in - lots of fun - photos were provided! Transportation - It was a challenge figuring out how to get to this place - finally, we had a Japanese-speaking hotel clerk call the resort, and got instructions for the 1-hour bus ride from Takayama bus station to Shinhotaka Onsen / Nakao Kou-gen-guchi. There are buses running every hour! We walked to the resort from the bus stop when we arrived, and a shuttle van to the bus stop was thoughtfully provided by the resort when we left. ¡Disfrutamos mucho de nuestra estancia en Takayama Ouan con mi familia! Las habitaciones son espaciosas para los estándares japoneses y me gusta que el hotel esté completamente cubierto de tatami, así que podemos caminar cómodamente descalzos o solo con calcetines. Nos proporcionaron calcetines gratis y almohadas ilimitadas. El baño al aire libre fue genial, y también hay sauna y baño de agua fría. El ramen gratis por la noche estaba delicioso, y el desayuno también estuvo genial. ¡No dudaré en reservar este hotel la próxima vez!

Tienen habitaciones triples, ideales para familias. Hay baño termal y pediluvio gratuitos en la planta de arriba. Las habitaciones cuentan con microondas y lavadora-secadora. El servicio también es excelente; cada noche elegíamos un restaurante y pedíamos en recepción que nos hicieran la reserva por teléfono. La ubicación es conveniente, con una parada de autobús justo al lado. Sin duda, me alojaría aquí de nuevo la próxima vez.

I have no complaints at all to this Onsen Ryokan. It is definitely an old building, but the upkeep was done well. We were slightly late to check in (need to check in by 6pm so that the kaiseki dinner could be served), emailed them on their way and they replied pretty fast. We were greeted by the receptionist that is able to speak fluent English, she showed us around and sharing the facilities available. One small disappointment is although we mentioned we would like to have dinner together with 2 other rooms (our parents and siblings) when they asked us via email before the trip, they didn't manage to arrange it (and we arrived too late to make necessary arrangements). Nonetheless, the breakfast at the hall 2nd day they did arrange a big table for 9 of us including a kid and an infant. The onsens are superb, it is clean and has clear instructions what to do. When I visited, the ryokan is quite quiet, I enjoyed the serenity a lot!

La habitación era espaciosa y el baño estaba muy limpio. Las aguas termales cuentan con baños públicos y privados (gratuitos, sin reserva previa, se puede acceder sin cargo). Ofrecen menús de desayuno y cena... ¡y la comida es bastante abundante! 👍🏻 (Puedes traer tus propios fideos instantáneos, ya que no hay muchas tiendas ni restaurantes cerca).

Está a aproximadamente 1 km de la estación de tren. Si hay un servicio de traslado en autobús, puede concertar una cita para un baño privado. Por 2.000 yenes, podrá disfrutar de un baño privado durante 45 minutos. La habitación está equipada con tatamis japoneses. y el camarero hará la cama durante la hora de la cena. Está cerca de la vía del tren. Los trenes pasan y son muy ruidosos.

Our stay at Ryokan Gizan was a truly memorable experience. This is a traditionally built and decorated Japanese ryokan, with tatami floors, sliding doors, and an authentic atmosphere that makes you feel fully immersed in Japanese culture. It’s definitely a “must-visit” if you’re looking to experience traditional Japanese accommodation — even a short stay of 2–3 nights is enough to make it special. The ryokan is quite old, which actually adds to its authentic charm, though it might feel a bit less comfortable for more demanding guests. That said, it’s very well maintained and everything is clean and thoughtfully arranged. The onsen facilities were excellent — one public bath and four private ones that you can use freely. After long days of exploring, it was a real treat. We highly recommend booking with the traditional dinner included. The meals were a highlight: we had Yakiniku the first night and Shabu-shabu the second, both featuring fresh, generous portions of delicious food. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese set — beautifully presented and made with care, though not quite to our personal taste. The location is stunning — surrounded by mountains, rivers, and blossoming trees. It feels peaceful and remote. Just note that amenities like ATMs or grocery stores are limited nearby. However, it’s well connected by bus (just a 3-minute walk from the ryokan), which can take you to Kamikochi or the terminals at Takayama and Hirayu Onsen. Buses run about once an hour, so it’s quite manageable. Overall, a fantastic stay — relaxing, unique, and highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a more traditional and scenic side of Japan.
