This old dog picked this place as a first-timer to Changbaishan because on paper it reads like a dream:
✔️ 5-minute walk to the Changbai Mountain VIP entrance
✔️ Hot springs inside the compound
✔️ “Eco-exchange” — which I later learned refers to exchanging comfort for character development
Location? Prime marrow bone. 🦴
Reality, however, is a scenic winter obstacle course.
The hotel is thoughtfully scattered across three separate buildings — one for check-in and breakfast, another for hot springs, and because suspense is important in life, the Food Plaza lives in yet another building.
In winter.
On ice.
With wind that slaps.
Not exactly age-old-dog friendly. I waddled. I shuffled. I negotiated with my knees. At one point I believe my soul lagged behind and had to catch up.
To offset this Arctic triathlon, the staff are available 24/7 on WeChat, responding faster than I can type “why did I choose this hotel?” Efficiency deserves a respectful tail wag. 🐾
Now let’s talk Food Plaza, the hotel’s redemption arc.
The food is genuinely scrumptious, warming, and emotionally supportive after being bullied by Changbai winds. Takeaway is allowed — which means you carry it yourself. Eco-exchange again. This dog fetches his own dinner. 🥸
Then there’s the hot spring schedule.

⚠️ Now, the bone that refuses to go down smoothly.
Despite having a relaxed stay, I felt continuously pressed for a 5-star review — on departure day from the first meeting in the lobby to gentle reminders all the way up the bus.
At that point, it stopped feeling like hospitality and started feeling like an exam I didn’t sign up for.
It made me sad, actually — because it suggests staff performance may be chained to guest reviews like sled dogs pulling corporate KPIs.
Trip.com, if you’re listening:
no guest should ever be pressured to review.
The moment reviews are pushed, ratings stop being honest and start being decorative.
This old dog is an independent reviewer.
I don’t bark on command.
I don’t roll over for stars.
And the harder the push, the more my paw hovers over the lowest rating out of pure principle.
Still — despite the ice, the walking, the soul-searching — the location alone makes this a smart base for Changbaishan first-timers.
Just come prepared with:

Our family holiday at the Sheraton Changbaishan was transformed from a great ski trip into an unforgettable story of genuine human kindness, thanks entirely to Front Desk Manager Xiao Xie. His service didn't just meet expectations; it redefined them.
From Late-Night Arrival to Instant Support
Arriving on the late Spring Airlines 9C7751 flight at 21:21, we were weary travelers. Xiao Xie, on his night shift, welcomed us with calm efficiency. He masterfully explained our extensive 6-night package—daily skiing, hot springs, water park access, and shuttle service—making it all instantly clear.
The Heart of Hospitality: Personal Intervention
What sets Xiao Xie apart was his proactive help when small obstacles arose. He didn't just give directions; he provided solutions:
1. WeChat Pay Hiccup: When we couldn't access a convenient unmanned shop due to a mobile payment issue, Xiao Xie didn't hesitate. He stepped in and paid for our items first, trusting us to settle it later. This act of personal trust and immediate problem-solving was astounding.
2. Power Bank Rescue: Realizing we needed a portable charger, he seamlessly assisted with the rental process, ensuring we stayed connected.
3. Hot Springs Ticket Resolution: When there was a minor glitch redeeming our included Hanna Hot Springs tickets, he took personal ownership. He didn't just make a call; he followed through until the issue was resolved and we gained entry, preserving our evening of relaxation.
4. Local Guide: Beyond the resort, he offered fantastic recommendations for local eateries, leading us to some of our best meals during the trip.

Xiao Xie operated with a philosophy that no guest concern was too small. His assistance during the night shift was particularly valuable, providing a constant, reliable point of contact. He embodies the true spirit of hospitality—anticipating needs, solving problems with grace, and investing personally in the guest experience.

The Sheraton Changbaishan offers a fantastic product: a seamless booking, incredibly valuable ski/activity package, and comfortable amenities. But Xiao Xie is the soul of the place. He turned potential frustrations into memorable demonstrations of care.

UUsuario anónimoHotel is very nice & clean. There are hot springs indoor & outdoor pool. Every staff is very nice and helping us a lot. They can’t speak English but they use WeChat to talk to us and help us everything since we booking like booking the bus or send us how to go to railway or How to find the bus. They also help order the food, booking scenic spots tickets, write the sign to help us to get back to hotel went we go out. If we have a chance, we will absolutely come back here.

NnurelyaImpression: The hotel is so cute and really kids oriented. Its newly built and opened, hence not all taxi driver knew about the location. In Trip.com - English, the name is Sunggari Club Hotel. But if you want to ask taxi driver or bus, you should mention Sungouli instead and search in Amap using chinese name given in Trip.com.
Location: West slope of Changbaishan. If the weather permitted, you can see the peak of Changbaishan from far away but very nice view. It was more happening at night around Swissotel area and more shops and restaurant around that area.
Hotspring located in Clubmed building not far ifrom Swissotel and Burger King. The shuttle bus will only drop and pickup at Swissotel and not Clubmed, so you have to walk back to Swissotel once you finished with the hotspring.
Pros:
1. Kids friendly - decorations, play area, room. All so cute and pretty.
2. The room package inclusive of the entrance vouchers and activities - skiing, deer place, hot spring, special event, breakfast. So it is really worth the money.
3. All the staffs are so friendly and helpful - even tried their best to communicate with us in English.
4. There is laundry room with washing machine and dryer and the detergents to wash and dry your clothes.
Cons:
1. The hotel supposed to be kids friendly, but smoking is allowed inside the hotel. We've requested non-smoking room and we've got it. but the problem is, it is not non-smoking floor. Shockingly, there is smoking area in the hallway of the rooms besides the elevator in every level. So the smell will travel to the entire hallway and into the room. Since it was winter and heavy snow, we can't really open the window to let the smell get off. It was so suffocating. Really frustrated in regards of this as I strongly suggest for the hotel to consider implement a strict rules not allowed smoking in the premise and have a dedicated smoking area far from the room and eating place to promote safe place for the kids.
2. Even the hotel considered new, the toilet bowl still old-school, not automated as most of the new airbnb/homestay that we went. So for Malaysian, no bidet is the big concern 😅.

The location is perfect for travelers who need easy access to Changbaishan Railway Station, and the park right across the street provides a lovely place for a relaxing stroll. However, the most memorable part of my stay was the outstanding service I received from the moment I checked in. Chen Yuanyuan (陈园园), the hotel staff, was an absolute delight. She is always smiling, polite, and going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. From the beginning, she warmly escorted us to our room and took the time to explain all the hotel amenities in detail. Her thoughtfulness did not stop there. She proactively connected with me on WeChat to ensure quick responses to any requests we had. The next morning, she personally reminded us about breakfast and even offered to come to our room to guide us to the restaurant. Her dedication was evident as she stayed until we were seated comfortably in the buffet area. Even after checkout, her exceptional service continued. She presented us with lovely hotel gifts and waited with us until our taxi arrived, ensuring a smooth departure. Chen Yuanyuan’s service attitude is truly commendable. Her attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism set a high standard for hospitality. She is undoubtedly a role model for her peers and a huge asset to the hotel. This experience reinforced my belief that service in China is truly excellent, and it’s because of staff like her that I will definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to Changbaishan in a different season. MMaoerMOLa suite es grande y cómoda, totalmente equipada con frigorífico, lavadora, cocina de inducción, dos aseos, cuarto de baño con ducha y calefacción por suelo radiante. El servicio de mayordomo también es muy bueno. Se comunicaron con nosotros dos días antes de nuestra llegada y nos brindaron el servicio de recogida en el aeropuerto. ¡Podemos comunicarnos con el mayordomo en cualquier momento después del check-in y la respuesta es muy rápida! El hotel entrega jugos y refrescos todos los días, ¡y el servicio es de 5 estrellas!

NNThe Chang Bai Shan hot spring hotel is a great hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to visit! They have public hot spring pools that are clean with great amenities. Around the hotel there is a ‘walking street’ with a great selection of shops within walking distance of the hotel, with a grocery store, a couple of restaurants and a gift shop.
