Wuhan Jiangtan Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street ECHENG Hotel

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very convenient, short walk to many different attractions which save some cost and time. Staff 小袁 service was exceptional, provided us some helpful guidance and care during our stay.

I usually have really positive experiences with hotels in China but this was my first poor experience: We arrived on a rainy day in Wuhan and were relieved to arrive at the hotel only to be met with terrible service from a staff member. We stepped into the hotel around 5pm, fully wet and tired from our journey - no other guests were around the lobby and there were only two staff standing behind the front desk who both said nothing, watching us pull our luggage into the lobby. I walked up to the staff member called Nie Jing with my passport and my parents IDs and she looked up at me confused like I wasn’t supposed to be here. I greeted her only to be met with silence. She took my passport, looked at it and asked “What is this?” 🤨 From then on, I already knew this person was trying to be difficult. After about eight minutes of looking at my passport and photocopying it (she still hadn’t photocopied my parents’ IDs), she asks me whose name the booking is under - I respond by saying it’s me. She then asked me what my name is… a person who’s looked at my document and photocopied my ID doesn’t know my name? So I point to my passport and tell her it’s the name in there (my name is fully in English). She repeatedly asks me twice what my name is? I finally look at her with a straight face and say my name in English to which she responds with a confused face again and picks up my passport to look. 🙃 I wish I took this moment to leave the hotel. After looking at my name, she tries to say that my name isn’t on the system before quickly following up with “Oh I found it”. 😒 She proceeds to ask me if I have a China phone number, which I don’t. She then asks if my parents (sitting down away from the front desk) if they have it and I said they don’t either. She then shouts over me to my parents to ask them if they have a China number again, even though I told her no already! Truly remarkable how disrespectful this person was 🤢 This entire check in process was the longest I’ve ever experience in China and of the lowest quality. There was a massive pot of tea next at the front desk and were not once offered anything during the entire ordeal. There was a staff member sitting in the lobby chairs playing with there phone who looked up once. It did not get better once we got into our room. We were left with a massive stain on the sofa and the table. And later on we would notice the insane amount of dust in the room as well as the strong mildew smell and the window that would not close. Seemed understaffed too, we asked for a third set of towels + slippers for our three person room, but the same woman who checked us in came up and only gave us the pair of slippers (no towels) 🫩🫠 everything just got worse and worse… Had a great time in Wuhan but it was no thanks to this hotel. Please avoid if you can!

Very good service level and the staff members are very professional and helpful.
