Amazing place, very unique experience. Great food in both quality and taste. The only con is we came here in summer. It’s a little bit hot because there is no air condition in the tent. However, it’s still highly recommended to visit at least once.

Respuesta del alojamiento: Hello and thank you for your generous review and lovely photos. I'm pleased to say we are installing fans in all tents for next summer, in keeping with our sustainable philosophy. Luckily on the south coast the evenings are generally cooler and comfortable for sleeping, but on warmer nights we realise that a fan will be welcome. Once again thanks again for your review and hope to see you here again sometime, the cooler months are actually our favourite! Kind regards, Camilla (Co-owner)

This was a perfect romantic weekend away, everything was very well thought of. It was a quiet & really relaxing atmosphere in the middle of the forest, not many people around and we were able to fully disconnect. We arrived around 2pm and there was afternoon tea ready for us to enjoy (cakes& tea) which was carefully curated. Dinner & breakfast was included and the food was in both occasion delicious and very high quality. They even packed us a lunch to take with us on our last day which was made with love once again. All staff were lovely too. Would highly recommend!!!

Respuesta del alojamiento: Hello, and apologies for the delay responding to your review. Naturally we are saddened to read that you didn't enjoy your Paperbark experience as much as we would have hoped. The luxury of a stay at Paperbark Camp is to be found in being surrounded by nature, but in comfort and we actively choose to only provide wifi in the main Gunyah building so as to encourage our guests to switch off and reconnect in nature. As the tents are powered with low voltage electricity we are unable to provide hairdryers, they are to be found in the guest bathrooms in the Gunyah. We are sorry that perhaps this information was not made available to you during your stay. We note your comments regarding the restaurant, and whilst we do receive a lot of positive feedback for our foodwe do have a new head chef starting in a week and are looking forward to some exciting new contemporary Australian menus which we believe will be more in keeping with our philosophy and guest expectations. We will also be introducing B&B only rates shortly so as to provide more value and choice for guests who would also like to experience the local dining establishments. Once again, we are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations but feel confident that should you choose to come again sometime you will have a wonderful dining experience and hopefully come away with a more positive review. Kind regards, Camilla (Co-owner)

This is a lovely peaceful location with spacious and spaced-out private tents. It’s less luxurious than the African version it is based on but a good effort. Disappointing that the rooms have no electric sockets in 2025, but otherwise the accommodation is good. Food comprises fine dining ingredients spoiled by bad cooking and unnecessary mismatched sauces. There are 3 options on the menu which are the same every day. Plus 1 special that changes daily. That’s pathetically lazy and not “elevating fine dining to new heights” as the website boasts. No vegetarian (etc) options unless you specify at the time of booking. Food is barely warm when it arrives. The delightful staff react badly or dismissively if you raise concerns. If you like pretension, this is your place. If you like good food eat elsewhere

Such a gorgeous setting, beautifully appointed tents, lovely staff. It was very peaceful. Food was pretty good. Coffee excellent. Nice touches, like the flask of hot water being delivered to your tent in the morning. Loved being in nature. The paddle up to Husky was an effort but worth it!

My wife, Sarah, & I enjoyed hugely our 3-night stay at Paperbark Camp. The tented accommodation, in a lovely forested setting, is luxurious and very atmospheric. All of the staff are delightful and the food, both at breakfast and dinner, was fantastic. Furthermore, the balcony dining in the 'Gunyah' (central meeting place) was the perfect setting to complement the wonderful food. Thank you for such a marvellous and memorable stay.

I planned this accomodation and trip to Jervis Bay as a surprise for my partners 32nd bday and he was so happy! I want to start off with a HUGE thank you to the staff! Everyone we interacted with was so incredibly lovely, so personable, up for a laugh and just so warm. Neither of us can really fault anything, I usually try to do my reviews under 3 titles “The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” but all I have is good things to say. As I said the staff were amazing, the chefs were so accomodating and REALLY put so much effort into making my meals deliciously vegan. There was nothing lazy or boring about my meals and I appreciate it so much. I think it speaks volumes of a chef when they put effort into a vegan meal because so many don’t/don’t want to. My partner loved the choices available on their seasonal menu and we were never left underfed! (We forgot to grab our leftover jambalaya though!) The accomodation itself was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Waking up to the sounds of the Australian bush is so wholesome. My favourite part was definitely the outdoor bathtub that looks out onto the bush. We were very lucky to get the King Fisher tent right at the back so never had anyone walking past and had full privacy. I simply can’t recommend this place enough and have already passed on the details to several friends :) I would absolutely stay here time and time again!

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The accommodation is designed for a relaxing time in an incredible bush setting. The staff were particularly helpful and the meals, cocktails and the overall dining experience was of a high standard. The setting allows peaceful walks and at times dropping into the main dining area for coffee / tea and snacks.

Wow what a place, so chilled and relaxing together with the fabulous food make it a not to be missed part of any holiday. The tents are truly luxurious and the outdoor bathrooms are quite something- being able to shower while looking into the forest was a great experience. The icing on the cake was when coming back from the restaurant we found two kangaroos sleeping under the steps of the tent.

I returned to Paperbark this year because last time it was perfect. This time was even more perfect! The property has been upgraded since this time last year with new life vests for watercraft, new watercraft, a new and much bigger guest fridge and a complete refurb of one style of tent. My tent had been replaced with a new one which kept the pesky possums at bay, well, mostly. Check in: Smooth and efficient and as I was in the same spot as last year I didn’t need the guided tour. Food: 6 days and 6 different breakfast specials. Each and every one was yum. I think my favourite was the chorizo and salsa, the fritters cam a close second. The dinners were TDF, and once again, with multiple nights there were mix and match options for me on the “double up” nights. Cocktails on the deck- tick Tent and sleep: Mostly excellent but despite strictly adhering to the no food in tent rule I did get an in tent visitor. This was my fault as 1. I missed a zip on the clip and 2. I didn’t realise a coconut mask would be so attractive. The tent was a little cool one evening but then I realised I should have pulled up the flaps. Plenty of extra blankets and the bed is sooo snuggly. No noisy groups this year and all the kids were fantastic Critters: Yep, there were mossies. There are mossies at my house at the moment too. Lots of rain does that. There are burners or you can retreat to the swing under the Gunyah. For the most part the repellent repelled. The roos jumped ina few times and my neighbours were graced by a visit by a lace monitor. Out and about: Jervis Bay is a gem. This time I spent a lot of energy doing a few walks in the rain. The walk around the Botanical gardens was excellent. This was a suggestion on the board. I didn’t even know the gardens existed! Day 1 and 2 were limited water wise by the weather, a Tsunami and a cyclone post marine event. Had an awesome surf at Blenheim on the final day. Don’ts: Go expecting a 5 star hotel. You have a million star tent. Put food in your tent. Be afraid of the critters. Do: Enjoy Revel in the peace and quiet I’m burning my candle and dreaming of Paperbark

Peaceful, comfortable stay in a well-equipped safari tent in a paperbark forest, next to a wild creek. Canoes and bikes available at no extra charge. Food was outstandingly good! Locally sourced, top quality and prepared with flair. Service excellent and nothing too much trouble. From firepits at night, to alpaca rugs in the safari tents, cold nights not a problem. Close to coast and townships, but with a totally isolated feeling. Would have given it 5 Stars except for one personal problem - mosquitoes. No repellent deters them when it comes to me, and Paperbark Camp does all it can: provides mosquito nets, natural and chemical repellents, burns smoke repellents, etc. Still got eaten alive. So, regretfully, we won't be returning. However, if you're in the area and if you're one of my mob who the mozzies love, don't rule out spending the evening in their delightful lounge/dining room. You can book in for dinner without staying there.
