Green Gables Guest House

I really love the place and would like my house to be this way if I could :) We are a family of 3 and we got to Windermere by train. It took us around 10 minutes to walk to the premises with 3 big luggages and it was an easy walk. The house was surprisingly clean and everything placed seem to have been well considered. The host/the lady was welcoming and nice. She cooked us breakfast every morning. The portion was big and she noted down how we liked it the next day - that was very considerate. We lived in the first floor with a room and a separate bathroom, but it wasn't not convenient because we have to walk out the room to get to the bathroom, as the first floor was quiet and basically just us. Sadly this place will close in January 2024 as the host will need to take care of her mother at home. We hope all the best of the host and her family :)

Stayed just the one night., but could have stayed longer ! We were in room 5 on the top floor with en suite . Only a small room but perfect for our stay . Comfy bed , clean and cosy . Shower was fine too . Tea , coffee etc all available in rooms too . We arrived early and called in to tell them we were there but would be ‘checking in ‘ later . Carole gave us our key , though our room wasn’t ready ( we didn’t expect it to be) . Breakfast was lovely. Ample food and very friendly and cheery staff ! Would certainly recommend, and will try to stay again . It’s in a great location. Street parking is available , though there were no spaces when we arrived . We parked on the car park across the street. Cost us £8 for an overnight stay ( 8am- 8pm is free , so this gets taken into account when you buy the ticket) Stayed in several small b&bs in and around Windermere, this was the cheapest , and by no means not the worst . Will be back hopefully !

Absolutely fantastic guests house, lovely hosts, lovely rooms, comfortable beds, very clean and the breakfast is amazing .Great location. I would 100% recommend The Green Gables. Thank you for a great stay x

Just home after staying at Green Gables for 3 nights. Cannot fault the service and Gilly, Carol and Alex are a very friendly team who go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome. Room was very comfortable and en suite was great. Breakfast was fun every day with Gilly and Carol. Lovely breakfast which set us up for the day. As we were staying 3 nights we parked in the car park opposite the guest house - £19.80 for a 3 day ticket which was valid for all the carparks in Windermere and in Bowness.

This was one of the few places that allowed 1 night stay over the weekend, which is a huge plus. There’s on street car parking but spaces are tough to get. We ended up using the car park opposite the guest house and this cost £18 for 24hours. It’s pretty much in the heart of Windermere and approx 20 minute walk down to Bowness. The guest house itself was lovely and warm, which was great as it was snowing outside. The rooms are spacious, comfortable & clean. Breakfast was delightful and served by two lovely ladies, who couldn’t do enough for you. We were celebrating a birthday amongst us and much to our amusement, the ladies served one of the breakfast’s with a candle in it whilst singing happy birthday. It was a lovely gesture. We’ll definitely come back to stay here again in the future

A friendly, cosy stay with a delicious breakfast. I stayed one night at Green Gables which is located a short walk into Windermere, so is ideal for eating out and exploring the town. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed for my short stay. Everyone was so kind and friendly.
