Zostel Varkala

Very bad experience. The reception staff and property ***ager is rude and they talk without even basic decency. We had booked rooms for two days. Two people had booked dorm for two days. I had booked Dorm for day one and private room for day two. It was specifically checked in the reception whether we need to check in separately for each day and it was informed it was not necessary. It was upon their insistence, kayaking was arranged and the timing was 6.30 to 9.30 AM. The receptionist had called me around 9.45 and I told him we are on the way and will be back in some 30 minutes. By the time we get back to the hotel, it was around 10.20 since the travelling time is more than 30 mins. My luggages were inside the dorm and I was dripping wet due to kayaking. They didn’t permit me inside the room to even take my luggage and change clothes harping that check out ought to have been done by 10 AM and I cannot use the bathroom in the dorm even though the other people in the dorm is my own friends. I just requested for 15 minutes and the same was nonchalantly refused. The reception ***ager also said I should use the common bathroom (unisex) which I was not comfortable. Since we were from Coimbatore, the receptionist made some lure comments in Hindi. Since one of my friends know Hindi, we argued back. It is noteworthy the dorm was free and my friends said they all will wait outside and I needed only 15 minutes to change. They harped on technicalities and made me wait in way dress for almost 1.5 hours, with no remorse or regret. They didn’t even try to provide early check in even at-least payment of additional cost. Solo women travellers, BEWARE. And also non-Hindi speaking people, have ears to what comments they are making. I am also gonna initiate appropriate action against them. Highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. Worst experience.

This hostel is very near to the cliff and have a nice view from the hostel. Rooms were decorated with colorful decors. I find this place clean there were games to play and the staff was comfortable. If you are visiting this place please book in advance because it's mostly full.

😍How should I start when my first solo trip for 7 days was made osm with zostel Varkala, the vibe, the place and from the day 1 wowww also 😍do u even get bored when u have cute volunteers like Vishaka and Shailendra, the activities and efforts they make and how i can miss to say the cafeteria in charge ***u who making me special teas every morning...Zostel Varkala literally become my second home cant wait to Visit again!! Guys!!!!

I don't know where to start about this pathetic place. Cleanliness: 0 Hygiene: 0 No toiletries No amenities Tap/shower was blocked so wasn't working properly Food:0 ( We didn't get chance to eat cuz nothing was available ) The place is not as it looks in pics in the website. We booked this place cuz we had a very good stay at zostel munnar but unfortunately in Alleppey we had terrible experience. I'm rating this place zero only cuz I can't rate below that otherwise I would have choosen that option P.S: this review is for room and not for dorm.

I stay at zostel first time, I choose between hostels. Location is excellent, reasonable price, We stay at mixed dormitory, In dormitory room have attached bath, room and Bath room is neat and clean. Zostel varkala run a restaurant on top floor, they provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, I eat 2 times, but not satisfied. I found tasteless food, so don't recommend to anyone. I say to zostel varkala ***agement, pls improve your food quality for better future.

Good stay. Thanks to the community ***agers like Shailendra and Vishakha, stay was fun and comfortable. I will recommend the hostel. The beach is nearby in walking distance. The keerikadan cafe is good too.
