HuanJu Hotel by Bestow

We stayed at this hotel many times in the past and it used to be great, however, this time the quality has really declined. There is no longer free afternoon tea or midnight meal. The hotel rooms were also not clean. The sink had yellow spots along the edges, the shower head was spraying water in all directions and leaking.

Still a good hotel but quality has definitely gone down since our last visit in March 2025. Cleaning staff no longer make the bed and bathroom cleaning is real questionable.

The hotel is new and clean. It occupies several floors of a bigger building. All the facilities work well, including free use of washing machines, which we valued much. There are lots of eating outlets around the hotel, though you will need to take a bus to get to the bigger malls, and the International Bazaar. The bus top is just about 100 to 200m from the hotel, and hence provides easy access. Otherwise, the Didi works too. The breakfast area is small, and the spread is reasonable but not too big, with coffee and bread (for those yearning for western spread). Front desk service is very good, with friendly and helpful staff.

The location is an 8 minute cab ride from the Xinjiang museum and a street of shopping malls. The bazaar is about a 20-minute cab ride away. Cabs are easy to flag in urumqi. The hotel rooms have the amenities we needed, and the rooms are clean.

Positives: Great hotel, premium room, good amenities, comfortable bed with very good bed linen. The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful! The toilet is a smart toilet with a bidet. Negatives: Hygiene needs to be reevaluated as the floors were actually very dirty. The shower also has orange mould where clients must stand to shower (the hotel can invest in a high pressure steam cleaner to clean it regularly). While the bed sheets are premium, the duvet is too hot for summer (consider having summer down blankets as an option).

The meeting and greeting was warm and then …nothing! Dirty room when we stayed for 4 nights, TV screen full of dust, only bins emptied and water and other things stocked. No cleaning done. On the morning of day 2 we asked for extra bottled water as we take quite a bit of medication. We were simply told, “No!” No suggestions where we could buy water or offering it to us for a price. Breakfast was a complete different scene- In half an hour no food available, slow cleaning if table and refilling of food. Some days, no bread or butter or jam, no milk. We were told milk would come at 9 o’clock when breakfast starts at 7:30 and people leave on tour by 8:30-9!!! A jar of yogurt was only seen on our 4th morning and so was an attendant who asked for our breakfast coupons… none was given to us and on previous days no one checked this. These are some of the issues. It was our last stop on the Silk Road. We had stayed in atleast 5 hotels in the last 15 days and Huanju was the worst, infact the worst ever for us veteran travels. No service for expats! The girl didn’t even reply to my query on WeChat! No help at all and a below average afternoon tea. Even the coffee machine in the reception had no coffee sometimes. Somedays, only hot noodles were cooked, not the dumplings in soup! Very disappointing service! VA

This hotel is top quality. Worthy of 5 star standard. Just built in 2024, everything was brand new. Front desk receptionists were all so professional and hospitable. We felt so at home and comfortable that we stayed for 6nights. We were offered an abundant breakfast, evening tea and late supper. We had 70 inch tv with movie channels. There is a complementary laundry room. The Japanese style toilet was a bonus. Bus stop is across the road. Walking distance to Hong Shan Park, Peoples Park, Xinjiang Museum and Saybad Shopping district. Highly recommend any visitors to Urumqi to this wonderful hotel.

Very nice front desk staff and we really appreciate the no smoking signs everywhere and enforcing it in the rooms and hallways to facilitate a clean and nice smell!

A nice and clean newer hotel for our 4 nights stayed. The supervisor lady (再克亚)was very friendly and courteous. She helped us to book an one-day trip and even walked us to the tourist bus pick up point early in the next morning to make sure that we were on the right bus. She and her team did made us feel welcome for our 4 nights stay at your hotel and made our trip to Urumqi more enjoyable. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel.
