Casa de Avo is situated in the centre of the charming village of Torre de Moncorvo, near the church. We found the house easily and, with help from the owner, we got the car round to a lane at the back of the house and parked up. The house is a splendid old town house and the moment we stepped through the door and saw the old stone steps leading up to the internal doors it just felt special. All the public rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished with period furniture, and the bedrooms are just as lovely. We had a choice of two rooms and chose room number 2 simply because it was larger. It does however look out over the front, so we will get the church bells at full volume (fortunately they don’t ring through the night and only start up again at 8 o’clock). The house has a nice lounge in which to relax as well as a pleasant outdoor seating area. Breakfast is served in a charming room and, although it is a simple affair consisting of fresh fruits, cheese, ham, fruit preserves and nice bread, we thoroughly enjoyed it. All staff members have been most welcoming and we found staying here to be a most relaxing and enjoyable experience. Fabulous house; nice people; charming village. We were here for three days and would certainly come back again.
