Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp

A wonderful and relaxing experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hippos and crocs are a treat. I can't wait to go back again. I really enjoyed the foot safaris and the guide was very informative. The monkeys were naughty but funny.

This is a lovely camp. It has comfortable tents, each with a view, some with special views of Kilimanjaro or Taita Hills or the lake with turtles, hippos and crocs. The birds are plentiful. Our friend counted 26 different named birds during 2 days at Ziwani. It was a great hunt for me as well. We had a nature walk and could have done a second. There are game drives in the evening and in the early morning, and while you are unlikely to see Lions, or Leopards, or Elephants, you will surely see impala, zebra, giraffe, orx, and other gazelles. The staff treat you as if you were very special and that your assessment of their work really meant something to them. They were the most pleasant group of staff I have ever met. The other positive about ziwani camp is that it is right at one of the the entrances to Tsavo West. So you can have a great night and to the middle of the next day at Ziwani and then venture over toTsavo West in the afternoon. We have done that route from our first visit to Ziwani, and then seen the sign again on this visit. The food was delicious (we wish it weren't buffet now), and drinks good as well. Really the most beautiful, relaxing place, perfectly in tune with nature and, to top it all, a view of Kilimanjaro. All the staff went way beyond the call of duty to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. The walking safaris were so interesting and we learnt so much. We loved our sundowners on the lawn in front of the camp fire watching the hippos and crocs in such close proximity.

Beautifully located lodge right by the entrance to the Tsavo West park. The grounds are exceptional and you can have all meals overlooking the lake with hippos, crocs and amazing birds to watch. A walking safari organised by the lodge was excellent with a really well informed guide as was the special night drive. Tented rooms are good too.

Amazing wildlife from different birds to hypos and crocodiles Very comfortable tent.. superb food One of the best managed places I ever visited . The GM Stanley is very caring and humble. The hotels offers free guided 1-2 hour wildlife tour .

The view, the location, the staff, just everything was amazing! We only stayed one night on our safari trip but wish we stayed more! Couldn’t fault anything, our accommodation was amazing and comfy, the food was outstanding and the staff were so friendly. Staying here is a must!!

Lovely big comfy tent, great friendly staff, good food and drinks and beautiful lakeside surroundings. We enjoyed eating outdoors by the lake. The hippos, vervet monkeys and crocs steal the show here though. Would highly recommended this camp.

We had a very nice stay in this camp. Staff were kind and attentive, bringing my wife hot water and tea when she fell ill. The tent was roomy and attractive, and I loved the location on a lake. My afternoon bush safari with Joseph was great; he was a wealth of information, and I saw crocodiles, hippos, troops of elephants and baboons, and some lovely birds. The food, while not outstanding, was surprisingly good. While I do not hesitate to recommend this place, there are two things that made our stay less than perfect. First, the service, while well-intended, was disorganized at times. Second, the lodging is set on a well manicured lawn, a choice that feels jarring in the midst of a drought-stricken region. Those two minor quibbles aside, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

Good, but we were spoiled having just spent two nights at Elerai Camp (which was amazing). A nice experience but not quite our cup of tea. They've gone to great effort to grow grass everywhere and are constantly watering it. Seems wasteful and gives the place the feel of a country club. Much prefer the more natural look. Tents and bathrooms nice, comfortable bed and linens. Unfortunately, there is no headboard and leaning against the tent doesn't work, so not comfortable for anything but sleeping. Lovely comfortable chairs on your own little porch. Your neighbors are quite close so you can hear them talking. Food was okay. Staff tried, but there were a number of miscommunications, and they seemed a little less enthusiastic. Both when we arrived and left it took a while for someone to come open the gate and he certainly was not in a hurry... Even our guide was annoyed, which we hadn't seen before. The pluses are hippos!; we woke up at 5 am to one 15' in front of our tent munching grass! And, monkeys abound! Beautiful birds everywhere. Also, don't skip the one hour bush walk. It's a little loop very nearby but we saw a crocodile, hippos, elephants, baboons, and tons of birds. WiFi only in front area; reception, dining room, bar, not in tents and there was no/minimal cell service. I'm sure you could get WiFi if you were in a tent closer to the restaurant.
