It’s not a 4 star hotel. Appearance in the lobby would past but bedrooms do not. We may have gotten very unlucky but I’m not so sure so many things can go wrong without their being a trend. Check in - arrived at 2:15, acknowledged we were early but thought we’d check on the off chance the room was ready. Told it wasn’t but would be shortly if we wanted to wait. It was 4:15 when we eventually got in… we would have left the hotel sooner and checked in later had they just told us it would be 2 hours. Bar food - we order soup / sandwiches. This is the first time in my life I refused to pay for food. A toasted sandwich came out, the cheese wasn’t melted so had barely seen a toaster but the butter was so thick we were able to scrap it off and show staff. The soup was also inedible. To top it off, it was left on the table for almost an hour before anyone came near us. Overnight - woken up at 7am but excessive noise upstairs. Rang reception at 7:20 to complain, told it was porters moving bags, noise continued until almost 8am. When that noise stopped someone started hoovering in the hallway outside. It’s now 8:20am and someone is drilling. It’s like faulty towers. I’m disgusted I paid for this. Given a generous 2 stars because the staff we spoke to seemed embarrassed and tried to help. Unfortunately they couldn’t give us back our time.
