Fantastic place to stay. Lesley and Colin are amazing hosts, very welcoming and thoughtful and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms are so comfortable, lovely bedding, lots of thoughtful touches including home made biscuits, nice toiletries etc. Lots of hot drink choices, including a fridge with cold water and fresh milk (those UHT milks are one of our pet hates). Breakfast is lovely, quality ingredients prepared well, fantastic fruit salad and home made yoghurt. Shanklin is a lovely village with lots of places to eat within walking distance. Great job guys - highly recommended by fussy travellers who like a bit of luxury.

Just back from our second stay at the Birkdale. Colin and Lesley are great hosts. They are very welcoming and have thought of everything to make your stay perfect down to the very last detail. The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable and the best breakfast you could have. We will be back.

Once again a fantastic stay at the Birkdale. Colin & Lesley are fantastic hosts and the rooms are 5🌟 - everything has been thought of for a comfortable stay Breakfasts are lovely and you are spoilt for choice Ideally situated with parking available. Highly recommend

Just returned from a weeks stay at The Birkdale. Colin & Lesley with the help of Sarah are excellent hosts who are very accommodating and provide a lovely B&B which can only be described as up market compared to other B&Bs we've stayed at in the Shanklin area over the last 20 years or so. The breakfast choice was considerable not to mention both good quality and generous. The bedrooms are relatively spacious, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom modern and well maintained. It's very welcoming and very conveniently located, only a short walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Would certainly make this a first choice for staying on the IoW again. Highly recommended.

The Birkdale has been our "go to" guest house in Shanklin every summer since 2014. Lesley and Colin are exceptional hosts assisted by the lovely Sarah. Attention to detail is faultless! All rooms are extremely well appointed and include a reasonably sized refrigerator. Spring water is available 24 / 7 in the lobby area and fresh milk from the dining room too! Breakfast, like the hosts, is exceptional! Hot and cold options are extensive! Hard to pick a favourite. We stayed 10 nights and needed longer to work through the hot options. All so so good! Impossible to pick a favourite! Location perfect being very close to plenty of bars and restaurants for the evenings. Plus a very good theatre too! Plan to return again and again! WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE !

Our 2nd visit to the Birkdale and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else on the Island. Lesley and Colin are the perfect hosts and Sarah’s smile in the morning is a delight. Everywhere spotless. Lesley’s home made biscuits are gorgeous, and moreish. Nothing seems too much trouble for this trio. My wife had a different breakfast every morning but I stayed with the full English with fruit salad to start. The first morning we both had a standard size fruit salad, but then dropped to a small which didn’t look any smaller. My wife doesn’t eat strawberries and I don’t eat kiwi fruit. Not a problem put it on the form, and that’s what you will get. Unbelievable eye to detail. Well done all, you deserve all the great reviews you get and more. Hopefully see you soon.

Fantastic adults-only Guest house situated centrally in Shanklin and not too far from the promenade and shoreline. Superbly run by Leslie and Colin who have carefully considered all elements from tasteful, appropriate coastal decoration to quality furnishings, exceptional bedrooms and ensuites. Each guest room has more than adequate facilities for hot and cold beverages in the room, plenty of hanging and cupboard space, quality furnishings again and all very clean. Breakfasts are just fabulous - pre-booked the day before but a very wide choice and something for everyone. Freshly cooked with quality ingredients well presented, you’ll never leave hungry. It really is impossible to fault this wonderful guest house and we will be back. Praise to Colin and Leslie for providing such high standards and 5 star accommodation and friendly, approachable service.

By far the best B&B we've ever stayed in. The room was immaculate with so many extras like a fridge, fresh milk, spring water, homemade biscuits to compliment the tea & Coffee facilities. The toiletries were lovely along with large fluffy towels and a superb shower. The bed was comfy with quality pillows and linen. The room was decorated to a exceptionally high standard. The choice of breakfast was amazing and the quality of the food was outstanding. Lesley and Colin go above and beyond to make your stay extra special. Can't wait to return in May.

Myself and my dad have just stayed at the Birkdale for the IOW scooter weekend. The hosts of the Birkdale, Lesley and Colin, are absolutely fab! They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The twin room that we had was spotless and we loved the little extra touches such as the homemade biscuits and the fresh milk in the fridge. The breakfast here is incredible! So much to choose from (I was spoilt for choice every morning) and Sarah who works in the morning is a star. We loved our stay here that much that we re-booked for next years scooter weekend there and then! Thank you to everyone at the Birkdale for making our stay extra special! Lucy and Gordon Smith
