Fantastic Villa with not much things to do inside except for enjoying the views. The location is absolutely great tho! Good price/value ratio.

Staying in this historic hotel we felt like as if we were back somewhere in Europe. Location was great in the former French concession. All the staffs were friendly and helpful!

復古派的花園私宅，滿滿的舒適和愜意！這次住的2號樓的一層雙床房，一開窗即可享受花草的芳香，房內的傢俱極帶復古感，酒店的建築有年代感，太喜歡園內的景色了，服務員也挺好的，滿意感！

特別滿意，法式花園酒店院子太美了，入住的時候正好遇到一對新人在這辦草坪婚禮，結束後我還拿了鮮花回房間，工作人員服務特別好，給我送來了花瓶插花，下次來上海一定還會住太原別墅

房間很大且房裡的傢俱很厚重，但乾淨整潔，充滿了vintage時尚感，停車位也很足，老闆很nice給免費升級了3樓的花園景觀房，在早晨小鳥的叫聲醒來開始美好的一天。鬧市裡有這麼一個美貌的花園真讓人驚喜，很美好的體驗！

Its location puts it in the heart of the Former French Concession and within easy access of Huaihai Road. Metro Lines 1, 7, 9 and 10 are all within a 15-minute walk and the neighborhood is home to a number of lively bars and restaurants.
Built in 1928, Taiyuan Villa features many of the French architectural styles that were popular in the days before Shanghai's dramatic modernization with its Mansard roof, French windows, and eclectic interior with a recurring fleur de lys motif. The well-appointed guest rooms have been painstakingly maintained to preserve their old-school charm.
A colorful history makes this one of the most interesting buildings in Shanghai. Requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial Army from 1941-45 it was later used as a government guesthouse during the first three decades of the People's Republic. Countless New China luminaries have stayed here with Jiang Qing ("Madam Mao") a big fan of the locale.
